基土拉给他生了心兰、约珊、米但、米甸、伊施巴，和书亚。

米甸人带约瑟到埃及，把他卖给法老的内臣，护卫长波提乏。

一日，他在井旁坐下。米甸的祭司有七个女儿；她们来打水，打满了槽，要饮父亲的群羊。

在所杀的人中，杀了米甸的五王，就是以未、利金、苏珥、户珥、利巴，又用刀杀了比珥的儿子巴兰。以色列人掳了米甸人的妇女孩子，并将他们的牲畜、羊群，和所有的财物都夺了来，当作掳物，

说：“我把他交给你们，你们愿意给我多少钱？”他们就给了他三十块钱。

“你要在米甸人身上报以色列人的仇，后来要归到你列祖那里。”摩西吩咐百姓说：“要从你们中间叫人带兵器出去攻击米甸，好在米甸人身上为耶和华报仇。

我对他们说：“你们若以为美，就给我工价。不然，就罢了！”于是他们给了三十块钱作为我的工价。耶和华吩咐我说：“要把众人所估定美好的价值丢给窑户。”我便将这三十块钱，在耶和华的殿中丢给窑户了。

这就应了先知耶利米的话，说：“他们用那三十块钱，就是被估定之人的价钱，是以色列人中所估定的，

基甸又对他们说：“我有一件事求你们：请你们各人将所夺的耳环给我。”原来仇敌是以实玛利人，都是戴金耳环的。

成群的骆驼，并米甸和以法的独峰驼必遮满你；示巴的众人都必来到；要奉上黄金乳香，又要传说耶和华的赞美。

那被杀的米甸女人，名叫哥斯比，是苏珥的女儿；这苏珥是米甸一个宗族的首领。

以色列人对基甸说：“你既救我们脱离米甸人的手，愿你和你的儿孙管理我们。”

求你待他们，如待米甸，如在基顺河待西西拉和耶宾一样。
