基土拉給他生了心蘭、約珊、米但、米甸、伊施巴和書亞。

米甸人後來把約瑟賣到埃及去，賣給法老的一個臣宰，軍長波提乏。

米甸的祭司有七個女兒，她們來打水，打滿了水槽，要給父親的羊群喝。

在那些被殺的人以外，還殺了米甸的五個王，就是以未、利金、蘇珥、戶珥和利巴；又用刀殺了比珥的兒子巴蘭。以色列人擄了米甸人的婦女、孩子；又擄掠了他們所有的牲畜、羊群和財物；

“如果我把他交給你們，你們願意給我甚麼呢？”他們就給了他三十塊銀子。

“你要在米甸人身上報以色列人的仇，然後要歸到你本族那裡去。”摩西對人民說：“要從你們中間使一些人武裝起來去作戰，攻擊米甸人，好在米甸人身上為耶和華報仇。

我對他們說：“你們若看為美，就給我工資；不然，就算了。”於是，他們稱了三十塊銀子作我的工資。那時，耶和華對我說：“你要把銀子丟給陶匠。”那銀子就是他們認為我應得的高價。我就拿了那三十塊銀子，在耶和華的殿裡丟給陶匠了。

這應驗了耶利米先知所說的：“他們拿了三十塊銀子，就是以色列人給他估定的價錢，

基甸又對他們說：“我有一個要求：請把你們各人奪得的耳環給我。”原來敵人都戴金耳環，因為他們是以實瑪利人。

成群的駱駝必遮蓋你的地，米甸和以法的小駱駝要蓋滿你的國境；示巴的人都必帶著黃金和乳香來到，並且宣揚讚美耶和華的話。

那被殺的米甸女子，名叫哥斯比，是蘇珥的女兒；這蘇珥是米甸一個家族的族長。

以色列人對基甸說：“你既然拯救我們脫離了米甸人的手，求你和你的子孫統治我們。”

求你待他們好像待米甸人，像在基順河待西西拉和耶賓一樣；

“你要擾害米甸人，打擊他們；
