Then come, let us go up to Bethel, where I will build an altar to God, who answered me in the day of my distress and who has been with me wherever I have gone.”

Yahweh said to Jacob,“ Return to the land of your fathers, and to your relatives, and I will be with you.”

Then Jacob was greatly afraid and was distressed. He divided the people who were with him, and the flocks, and the herds, and the camels, into two companies;

Unless the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely now you would have sent me away empty. God has seen my affliction and the labor of my hands, and rebuked you last night.”

In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Jacob was left alone, and wrestled with a man there until the breaking of the day.

Behold, I am with you, and will keep you, wherever you go, and will bring you again into this land. For I will not leave you, until I have done that which I have spoken of to you.”

For the people will dwell in Zion at Jerusalem. You will weep no more. He will surely be gracious to you at the voice of your cry. When he hears you, he will answer you.

Then they cried to Yahweh in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses,

Call on me in the day of trouble. I will deliver you, and you will honor me.”

I love Yahweh, because he listens to my voice, and my cries for mercy.Because he has turned his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live.

I will come into your temple with burnt offerings. I will pay my vows to you,which my lips promised, and my mouth spoke, when I was in distress.

He dreamed and saw a stairway set upon the earth, and its top reached to heaven. Behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.Behold, Yahweh stood above it, and said,“ I am Yahweh, the God of Abraham your father, and the God of Isaac. I will give the land you lie on to you and to your offspring.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Yahweh, truly I am your servant. I am your servant, the son of your servant girl. You have freed me from my chains.I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call on Yahweh’s name.I will pay my vows to Yahweh, yes, in the presence of all his people,

Jacob vowed a vow, saying,“ If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and clothing to put on,so that I come again to my father’s house in peace, and Yahweh will be my God,then this stone, which I have set up for a pillar, will be God’s house. Of all that you will give me I will surely give a tenth to you.”

Praise Yahweh, my soul! All that is within me, praise his holy name!Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits,who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases,who redeems your life from destruction, who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies,who satisfies your desire with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Let them praise Yahweh for his loving kindness, for his wonderful deeds to the children of men!

He will call on me, and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him, and honor him.

Open to me the gates of righteousness. I will enter into them. I will give thanks to Yah.This is the gate of Yahweh; the righteous will enter into it.I will give thanks to you, for you have answered me, and have become my salvation.The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
