耶和華對雅各說：「你當回到你祖先之地，回到你的本族，我必與你同在。」

你從水中經過，我必與你同在；你渡過河流，水必不漫過你；你在火中行走，必不被燒灼，火焰也燒不著你。

於是雅各極其害怕而且焦慮，就把與他一起的民眾，羊群、牛群和駱駝，分成兩隊。

要不是我父親的神，亞伯拉罕的神，以撒所敬畏的那一位與我同在，你現在一定會打發我空手而去。神看到我的苦情和我手上的辛勞，就在昨夜責備了你。」

在你一切的道路上，都要認定他，他就會修直你的路。

最後雅各獨自留下。那夜，有一個人與雅各摔跤，直到黎明。

看哪，我與你同在！你無論往哪裡去，我都會保守你，並且要把你帶回這地。我必不離棄你，直到成就了我對你所說的。」

錫安的民——住在耶路撒冷的人哪，你必不再哭泣！他必定恩待你，他聽了你哀求的聲音，就必回應你。

於是他們在危難中向耶和華呼求，他就解救他們脫離困境；

在患難的日子裡，你當呼求我，我必搭救你，而你將榮耀我。」

我愛耶和華，因為他垂聽我的聲音和我的懇求；又因為他向我側耳聽，我要在我的年日裡呼求他。

我要帶著燔祭來到你的殿，向你還我所許的願，就是我在危難中，我的嘴唇所發、我的口中所許的願。

他做了一個夢：看哪，有一個梯子矗立在地，它的頂端直通到天！看哪，梯子上，神的使者們上下往來！看哪，耶和華站在梯子上方，說：「我是耶和華，你父親亞伯拉罕的神、以撒的神。我必把你現在躺臥之地，賜給你和你的後裔。

神是我們的避難所和力量，是患難中隨時可得的幫助，

哦，耶和華啊，我確實是你的僕人！我是你的僕人，是你女僕的兒子。你已經解開了我的繩索。我要向你獻上感謝的祭物，並要呼求耶和華的名。我要在耶和華所有的子民面前，向他還我所許的願；

然後雅各許了一個願說：「如果耶和華與我同在，在我所行的這路上保守我，又賜給我糧食吃、衣服穿，並讓我平平安安地回到我的父家，那麼耶和華就是我的神。我立作柱子的這塊石頭將成為神的殿；凡你所賜給我的，我必把十分之一獻給你。」

我的靈魂哪，你要頌讚耶和華！在我裡面的一切，都要頌讚他的聖名。我的靈魂哪，你要頌讚耶和華！不要忘記他的一切恩惠——他赦免你一切的罪孽，治癒你一切的疾病；他從陰坑贖回你的生命，賜給你慈愛和憐憫為冠冕；他用福份使你的心願滿足，以致你返老還童，如鷹一般！

願他們因耶和華的慈愛，以及他向世人顯明的奇妙作為稱謝他！

他呼求我，我就回應他；他在患難中，我就與他同在；我要搭救他，使他得尊榮。

為我打開公義之門吧，我要進去稱謝耶和華！這是耶和華的門，義人要從這門進入。讓我稱謝你，因為你已經回應我，又成了我的救恩。工匠所棄絕的石頭，已經成了房角的頭塊石頭。
