他作了一個夢，夢見一個梯子立在地上，梯頂直通到天，神的眾使者在梯子上下往來。耶和華站在梯子上，說：“我是耶和華你祖父亞伯拉罕的神，也是以撒的神，我要把你現在躺著的這塊地賜給你和你的後裔。

神是我們的避難所，是我們的力量，是我們在患難中隨時都可得到的幫助。

耶和華啊！我真是你的僕人；我是你僕人，你婢女的兒子；我的鎖鍊你給我解開了。我要把感恩祭獻給你，我要稱揚耶和華的名。我要在耶和華的眾民面前，向他還我所許的願。

於是雅各許了一個願說：“如果神與我同在，在我所走的路上看顧我，賜我食物吃，給我衣服穿，使我可以平平安安地回到我的父家，我就必定以耶和華為我的神，我立作石柱的那塊石頭，必作神的殿；你賜給我的一切，我必把十分之一獻給你。”

我的心哪！你要稱頌耶和華；在我裡面的一切，都要稱頌他的聖名。（本節在《馬索拉文本》包括細字標題）我的心哪！你要稱頌耶和華；不可忘記他的一切恩惠。他赦免你的一切罪孽，醫治你的一切疾病；他救贖你的性命脫離死亡，以慈愛和憐憫作你的冠冕；他以福樂使你的心願滿足，以致你好像鷹一般恢復青春的活力。

願人因耶和華的慈愛，和他向世人所行的奇事稱謝他。

他求告我，我必應允他；他在患難中，我必與他同在；我必拯救他，使他得尊榮。

請你們為我打開正義的門，我要進去，稱謝耶和華。這是耶和華的門，義人才可以進去。我要稱謝你，因為你應允了我，又成了我的拯救。建築工人所棄的石頭，成了房角的主要石頭；
