All who were counted of the camps according to their armies were six hundred three thousand five hundred fifty.But the Levites were not counted among the children of Israel, as Yahweh commanded Moses.

He bows his shoulder to the burden, and becomes a servant doing forced labor.“ Dan will judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel.Dan will be a serpent on the trail, an adder in the path, That bites the horse’s heels, so that his rider falls backward.I have waited for your salvation, Yahweh.“ A troop will press on Gad, but he will press on their heel.“ Asher’s food will be rich. He will produce royal dainties.“ Naphtali is a doe set free, who bears beautiful fawns.“ Joseph is a fruitful vine, a fruitful vine by a spring. His branches run over the wall.The archers have severely grieved him, shot at him, and persecuted him:But his bow remained strong. This was the offering of Eliab the son of Helon.On the fourth day Elizur the son of Shedeur, prince of the children of Reuben,gave his offering: one silver platter, the weight of which was one hundred thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary; both of them full of fine flour mixed with oil for a meal offering;one golden ladle of ten shekels, full of incense;one young bull, one ram, one male lamb a year old, for a burnt offering;one male goat for a sin offering;and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two head of cattle, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs a year old. This was the offering of Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.On the eleventh day Pagiel the son of Ochran, prince of the children of Asher,gave his offering: one silver platter, the weight of which was one hundred thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary; both of them full of fine flour mixed with oil for a meal offering;one golden ladle of ten shekels, full of incense;one young bull, one ram, one male lamb a year old, for a burnt offering;one male goat for a sin offering;and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two head of cattle, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs a year old. This was the offering of Pagiel the son of Ochran.On the twelfth day Ahira the son of Enan, prince of the children of Naphtali,gave his offering: one silver platter, the weight of which was one hundred thirty shekels, one silver bowl of seventy shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary; both of them full of fine flour mixed with oil for a meal offering;one golden spoon of ten shekels, full of incense;one young bull, one ram, one male lamb a year old, for a burnt offering;one male goat for a sin offering;and for the sacrifice of peace offerings, two head of cattle, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs a year old. This was the offering of Ahira the son of Enan.This was the dedication offering of the altar, on the day when it was anointed, by the princes of Israel: twelve silver platters, twelve silver bowls, twelve golden ladles;each silver platter weighing one hundred thirty shekels, and each bowl seventy; all the silver of the vessels two thousand four hundred shekels, according to the shekel of the sanctuary;the twelve golden ladles, full of incense, weighing ten shekels apiece, according to the shekel of the sanctuary; all the gold of the ladles weighed one hundred twenty shekels;all the cattle for the burnt offering twelve bulls, the rams twelve, the male lambs a year old twelve, and their meal offering; and twelve male goats for a sin offering;and all the cattle for the sacrifice of peace offerings: twenty- four bulls, sixty rams, sixty male goats, and sixty male lambs a year old. This was the dedication offering of the altar, after it was anointed.When Moses went into the Tent of Meeting to speak with Yahweh, he heard his voice speaking to him from above the mercy seat that was on the ark of the Testimony, from between the two cherubim; and he spoke to him.

Furthermore over the tribes of Israel: of the Reubenites, Eliezer the son of Zichri was the ruler; of the Simeonites, Shephatiah the son of Maacah;of Levi, Hashabiah the son of Kemuel; of Aaron, Zadok;of Judah, Elihu, one of the brothers of David; of Issachar, Omri the son of Michael;of Zebulun, Ishmaiah the son of Obadiah; of Naphtali, Jeremoth the son of Azriel;of the children of Ephraim, Hoshea the son of Azaziah; of the half- tribe of Manasseh, Joel the son of Pedaiah;of the half- tribe of Manasseh in Gilead, Iddo the son of Zechariah; of Benjamin, Jaasiel the son of Abner;of Dan, Azarel the son of Jeroham. These were the captains of the tribes of Israel.

Ahithophel said to Absalom,“ Go in to your father’s concubines that he has left to keep the house. Then all Israel will hear that you are abhorred by your father. He came from the ten thousands of holy ones. At his right hand was a fiery law for them.Yes, he loves the people. All his saints are in your hand. They sat down at your feet. Each receives your words.Moses commanded us a law, an inheritance for the assembly of Jacob.He was king in Jeshurun, when the heads of the people were gathered, all the tribes of Israel together.“ Let Reuben live, and not die; Nor let his men be few.”This is for Judah. He said,“ Hear, Yahweh, the voice of Judah. Bring him in to his people. With his hands he contended for himself. You shall be a help against his adversaries.”About Levi he said,“ Your Thummim and your Urim are with your godly one, whom you proved at Massah, with whom you contended at the waters of Meribah.He said of his father, and of his mother,‘ I have not seen him.’ He didn’t acknowledge his brothers, nor did he know his own children; for they have observed your word, and keep your covenant.They shall teach Jacob your ordinances, and Israel your law. They shall put incense before you, and whole burnt offering on your altar.Yahweh, bless his skills. Accept the work of his hands. Strike through the hips of those who rise up against him, of those who hate him, that they not rise again.”About Benjamin he said,“ The beloved of Yahweh will dwell in safety by him. He covers him all day long. He dwells between his shoulders.”About Joseph he said,“ His land is blessed by Yahweh, for the precious things of the heavens, for the dew, for the deep that couches beneath,for the precious things of the fruits of the sun, for the precious things that the moon can yield,for the best things of the ancient mountains, for the precious things of the everlasting hills,for the precious things of the earth and its fullness, the good will of him who lived in the bush. Let this come on the head of Joseph, on the crown of the head of him who was separated from his brothers.Majesty belongs to the firstborn of his herd. His horns are the horns of the wild ox. With them he will push all the peoples to the ends of the earth. They are the ten thousands of Ephraim. They are the thousands of Manasseh.”About Zebulun he said,“ Rejoice, Zebulun, in your going out; and Issachar, in your tents.They will call the peoples to the mountain. There they will offer sacrifices of righteousness, for they will draw out the abundance of the seas, the hidden treasures of the sand.”About Gad he said,“ He who enlarges Gad is blessed. He dwells as a lioness, and tears the arm and the crown of the head.He provided the first part for himself, for the lawgiver’s portion reserved was reserved for him. He came with the heads of the people. He executed the righteousness of Yahweh, His ordinances with Israel.”About Dan he said,“ Dan is a lion’s cub that leaps out of Bashan.”About Naphtali he said,“ Naphtali, satisfied with favor, full of Yahweh’s blessing, Possess the west and the south.”About Asher he said,“ Asher is blessed with children. Let him be acceptable to his brothers. Let him dip his foot in oil.Your bars will be iron and bronze. As your days, so your strength will be.“ There is no one like God, Jeshurun, who rides on the heavens for your help, in his excellency on the skies.The eternal God is your dwelling place. Underneath are the everlasting arms. He thrust out the enemy from before you, and said,‘ Destroy!’Israel dwells in safety, the fountain of Jacob alone, In a land of grain and new wine. Yes, his heavens drop down dew.You are happy, Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by Yahweh, the shield of your help, the sword of your excellency? Your enemies will submit themselves to you. You will tread on their high places.”

“ Now these are the names of the tribes: From the north end, beside the way of Hethlon to the entrance of Hamath, Hazar Enan at the border of Damascus, northward beside Hamath( and they shall have their sides east and west), Dan, one portion.“ By the border of Dan, from the east side to the west side, Asher, one portion.“ By the border of Asher, from the east side even to the west side, Naphtali, one portion.“ By the border of Naphtali, from the east side to the west side, Manasseh, one portion.“ By the border of Manasseh, from the east side to the west side, Ephraim, one portion.“ By the border of Ephraim, from the east side even to the west side, Reuben, one portion.“ By the border of Reuben, from the east side to the west side, Judah, one portion.“ By the border of Judah, from the east side to the west side, shall be the offering which you shall offer, twenty- five thousand reeds in width, and in length as one of the portions, from the east side to the west side: and the sanctuary shall be in the middle of it.“ The offering that you shall offer to Yahweh shall be twenty- five thousand reeds in length, and ten thousand in width.For these, even for the priests, shall be the holy offering: toward the north twenty- five thousand in length, and toward the west ten thousand in width, and toward the east ten thousand in width, and toward the south twenty- five thousand in length: and the sanctuary of Yahweh shall be in the middle of it.It shall be for the priests who are sanctified of the sons of Zadok, who have kept my instruction, who didn’t go astray when the children of Israel went astray, as the Levites went astray.It shall be to them an offering from the offering of the land, a most holy thing, by the border of the Levites.“ Answerable to the border of the priests, the Levites shall have twenty- five thousand in length, and ten thousand in width. All the length shall be twenty- five thousand, and the width ten thousand.They shall sell none of it, nor exchange it, nor shall the first fruits of the land be alienated; for it is holy to Yahweh.“ The five thousand that are left in the width, in front of the twenty- five thousand, shall be for common use, for the city, for dwelling and for pasture lands; and the city shall be in the middle of it.These shall be its measurements: the north side four thousand and five hundred, and the south side four thousand and five hundred, and on the east side four thousand and five hundred, and the west side four thousand and five hundred.The city shall have pasture lands: toward the north two hundred fifty, and toward the south two hundred fifty, and toward the east two hundred fifty, and toward the west two hundred fifty.The remainder in the length, alongside the holy offering, shall be ten thousand eastward, and ten thousand westward; and it shall be alongside the holy offering. Its increase shall be for food to those who labor in the city.Those who labor in the city, out of all the tribes of Israel, shall cultivate it.All the offering shall be a square of twenty- five thousand by twenty- five thousand. You shall offer it as a holy offering, with the possession of the city.“ The remainder shall be for the prince, on the one side and on the other of the holy offering and of the possession of the city; in front of the twenty- five thousand of the offering toward the east border, and westward in front of the twenty- five thousand toward the west border, alongside the portions, it shall be for the prince. The holy offering and the sanctuary of the house shall be in the middle of it.Moreover from the possession of the Levites, and from the possession of the city, being in the middle of that which is the prince’s, between the border of Judah and the border of Benjamin, shall be for the prince.“ As for the rest of the tribes: from the east side to the west side, Benjamin, one portion.“ By the border of Benjamin, from the east side to the west side, Simeon, one portion.“ By the border of Simeon, from the east side to the west side, Issachar, one portion.“ By the border of Issachar, from the east side to the west side, Zebulun, one portion.“ By the border of Zebulun, from the east side to the west side, Gad, one portion.“ By the border of Gad, at the south side southward, the border shall be even from Tamar to the waters of Meribath Kadesh, to the brook, to the great sea.“ This is the land which you shall divide by lot to the tribes of Israel for inheritance, and these are their several portions, says the Lord Yahweh.“ These are the exits of the city: On the north side four thousand and five hundred reeds by measure;and the gates of the city shall be named after the tribes of Israel, three gates northward: the gate of Reuben, one; the gate of Judah, one; the gate of Levi, one.“ At the east side four thousand and five hundred reeds, and three gates: even the gate of Joseph, one; the gate of Benjamin, one; the gate of Dan, one.“ At the south side four thousand and five hundred reeds by measure, and three gates: the gate of Simeon, one; the gate of Issachar, one; the gate of Zebulun, one.“ At the west side four thousand and five hundred reeds, with their three gates: the gate of Gad, one; the gate of Asher, one; the gate of Naphtali, one.“ It shall be eighteen thousand reeds around: and the name of the city from that day shall be,‘ Yahweh is there.’

I heard the number of those who were sealed, one hundred forty- four thousand, sealed out of every tribe of the children of Israel:of the tribe of Judah twelve thousand were sealed, of the tribe of Reuben twelve thousand, of the tribe of Gad twelve thousand,of the tribe of Asher twelve thousand, of the tribe of Naphtali twelve thousand, of the tribe of Manasseh twelve thousand,of the tribe of Simeon twelve thousand, of the tribe of Levi twelve thousand, of the tribe of Issachar twelve thousand,of the tribe of Zebulun twelve thousand, of the tribe of Joseph twelve thousand, and of the tribe of Benjamin twelve thousand were sealed.

Now these are the names of the sons of Israel, who came into Egypt( every man and his household came with Jacob):Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah,Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin,Dan and Naphtali, Gad and Asher.All the souls who came out of Jacob’s body were seventy souls, and Joseph was in Egypt already.

The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them twelve names of the twelve Apostles of the Lamb.

I will drive them out from before the children of Israel. Just allocate it to Israel for an inheritance, as I have commanded you.Now therefore divide this land for an inheritance to the nine tribes and the half- tribe of Manasseh.”With him the Reubenites and the Gadites received their inheritance, which Moses gave them, beyond the Jordan eastward, even as Moses the servant of Yahweh gave them:from Aroer, that is on the edge of the valley of the Arnon, and the city that is in the middle of the valley, and all the plain of Medeba to Dibon;and all the cities of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, to the border of the children of Ammon;and Gilead, and the border of the Geshurites and Maacathites, and all Mount Hermon, and all Bashan to Salecah;all the kingdom of Og in Bashan, who reigned in Ashtaroth and in Edrei( who was left of the remnant of the Rephaim); for Moses attacked these, and drove them out.Nevertheless the children of Israel didn’t drive out the Geshurites, nor the Maacathites: but Geshur and Maacath live within Israel to this day.Only he gave no inheritance to the tribe of Levi. The offerings of Yahweh, the God of Israel, made by fire are his inheritance, as he spoke to him.Moses gave to the tribe of the children of Reuben according to their families.Their border was from Aroer, that is on the edge of the valley of the Arnon, and the city that is in the middle of the valley, and all the plain by Medeba;Heshbon, and all its cities that are in the plain; Dibon, Bamoth Baal, Beth Baal Meon,Jahaz, Kedemoth, Mephaath,Kiriathaim, Sibmah, Zereth Shahar in the mount of the valley,Beth Peor, the slopes of Pisgah, Beth Jeshimoth,all the cities of the plain, and all the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, whom Moses struck with the chiefs of Midian, Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba, the princes of Sihon, who lived in the land.

These are the numbers of the heads of those who were armed for war, who came to David to Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul to him, according to Yahweh’s word.The children of Judah who bore shield and spear were six thousand eight hundred, armed for war.Of the children of Simeon, mighty men of valor for the war: seven thousand one hundred.Of the children of Levi: four thousand six hundred.Jehoiada was the leader of the household of Aaron; and with him were three thousand seven hundred,and Zadok, a young man mighty of valor, and of his father’s house twenty- two captains.Of the children of Benjamin, Saul’s relatives: three thousand, for until then, the greatest part of them had kept their allegiance to Saul’s house.Of the children of Ephraim: twenty thousand eight hundred, mighty men of valor, famous men in their fathers’ houses.Of the half- tribe of Manasseh: eighteen thousand, who were mentioned by name, to come and make David king.Of the children of Issachar, men who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do, their heads were two hundred; and all their brothers were at their command.Of Zebulun, such as were able to go out in the army, who could set the battle in array, with all kinds of instruments of war: fifty thousand who could command and were not of double heart.Of Naphtali: one thousand captains, and with them with shield and spear thirty- seven thousand.Of the Danites who could set the battle in array: twenty- eight thousand six hundred.Of Asher, such as were able to go out in the army, who could set the battle in array: forty thousand.On the other side of the Jordan, of the Reubenites, the Gadites, and of the half- tribe of Manasseh, with all kinds of instruments of war for the battle: one hundred twenty thousand.All these were men of war, who could order the battle array, and came with a perfect heart to Hebron, to make David king over all Israel; and all the rest also of Israel were of one heart to make David king.They were there with David three days, eating and drinking; for their brothers had supplied provisions for them.Moreover those who were near to them, as far as Issachar, Zebulun, and Naphtali, brought bread on donkeys, on camels, on mules, and on oxen: supplies of flour, cakes of figs, clusters of raisins, wine, oil, cattle, and sheep in abundance; for there was joy in Israel.

These are those who were counted of the Levites after their families: of Gershon, the family of the Gershonites; of Kohath, the family of the Kohathites; of Merari, the family of the Merarites.These are the families of Levi: the family of the Libnites, the family of the Hebronites, the family of the Mahlites, the family of the Mushites, and the family of the Korahites. Kohath became the father of Amram.The name of Amram’s wife was Jochebed, the daughter of Levi, who was born to Levi in Egypt. She bore to Amram Aaron and Moses, and Miriam their sister.To Aaron were born Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.Nadab and Abihu died when they offered strange fire before Yahweh.Those who were counted of them were twenty- three thousand, every male from a month old and upward; for they were not counted among the children of Israel, because there was no inheritance given them among the children of Israel.

Then Rachel said to Leah,“ Please give me some of your son’s mandrakes.”Leah said to her,“ Is it a small matter that you have taken away my husband? Would you take away my son’s mandrakes, also?” Rachel said,“ Therefore he will lie with you tonight for your son’s mandrakes.”Jacob came from the field in the evening, and Leah went out to meet him, and said,“ You must come in to me; for I have surely hired you with my son’s mandrakes.” He lay with her that night.God listened to Leah, and she conceived, and bore Jacob a fifth son.Leah said,“ God has given me my hire, because I gave my servant to my husband.” She named him Issachar.Leah conceived again, and bore a sixth son to Jacob.Leah said,“ God has endowed me with a good dowry. Yahweh saw that Leah was hated, and he opened her womb, but Rachel was barren.Leah conceived, and bore a son, and she named him Reuben. For she said,“ Because Yahweh has looked at my affliction; for now my husband will love me.”She conceived again, and bore a son, and said,“ Because Yahweh has heard that I am hated, he has therefore given me this son also.” She named him Simeon.She conceived again, and bore a son. She said,“ Now this time my husband will be joined to me, because I have borne him three sons.” Therefore his name was called Levi.She conceived again, and bore a son.
