God said to Jacob,“ Arise, go up to Bethel and dwell there. Make an altar there to the God who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau.”

神对雅各说：“起来，上伯特利去，住在那里；你要在那里筑一座坛给神，就是从前你逃避你哥哥以扫的时候，向你显现的那一位。”

神对雅各说：“起来，上伯特利去，住在那里；你要在那里造一座祭坛给神——他是你逃避你哥哥以扫的时候曾向你显现的那一位。”

神對雅各說：「起來！上伯特利去，住在那裏；要在那裏築一座壇給神，就是你逃避你哥哥以掃的時候向你顯現的那位。」

上帝對雅各說：「起來！上伯特利去，住在那裏。在那裏築一座壇給上帝，就是你逃避你哥哥以掃的時候向你顯現的上帝。」

神對雅各說：「起來！上伯特利去，住在那裏。在那裏築一座壇給神，就是你逃避你哥哥以掃的時候向你顯現的神。」

Then God said to Jacob,“ Go up to Bethel and settle there, and build an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you were fleeing from your brother Esau.”

Then God said to Jacob,“ Go up to Bethel and live there. Build an altar there to honor me. That’s where I appeared to you when you were running away from your brother Esau.”

Then God said to Jacob,“ Get ready and move to Bethel and settle there. Build an altar there to the God who appeared to you when you fled from your brother, Esau.”

God said to Jacob,“ Get up! Go to Bethel and settle there. Build an altar there to the God who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau.”

Then God said to Jacob,“ Arise, go up to Bethel and live there, and make an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau.”

Then God said to Jacob,“ Arise, go up to Bethel and dwell there; and make an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you fled from the face of Esau your brother.”

And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Beth- el, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, who appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.

God said to Jacob,“ Get up! Go to Bethel and settle there. Build an altar there to the God who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau.”

And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.

Then God said to Jacob,“ Go up at once to Bethel and live there. Make an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau.”

God said to Jacob,“ Arise, go up to Bethel, and live there. Make there an altar to God, who appeared to you when you fled from the face of Esau your brother.”

For the Lord will vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants, when he sees that their power is gone and there is none remaining, bond or free.

He strove with the angel and prevailed; he wept and sought his favor. He met God at Bethel, and there God spoke with us—

When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.

I am the God of Bethel, where you anointed a pillar and made a vow to me. Now arise, go out from this land and return to the land of your kindred.’”

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

And he journeyed on from the Negeb as far as Bethel to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai,to the place where he had made an altar at the first. And there Abram called upon the name of the Lord.

Now Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing with which his father had blessed him, and Esau said to himself,“ The days of mourning for my father are approaching; then I will kill my brother Jacob.”But the words of Esau her older son were told to Rebekah. So she sent and called Jacob her younger son and said to him,“ Behold, your brother Esau comforts himself about you by planning to kill you.Now therefore, my son, obey my voice. Arise, flee to Laban my brother in Haranand stay with him a while, until your brother’s fury turns away—until your brother’s anger turns away from you, and he forgets what you have done to him. Then I will send and bring you from there. Why should I be bereft of you both in one day?”

He chose our heritage for us, the pride of Jacob whom he loves. Selah

And he said,“ Hagar, servant of Sarai, where have you come from and where are you going?” She said,“ I am fleeing from my mistress Sarai.”

and there he built an altar and called the place El-bethel, because there God had revealed himself to him when he fled from his brother.

From there he moved to the hill country on the east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east. And there he built an altar to the Lord and called upon the name of the Lord.

Then the Lord said to Jacob,“ Return to the land of your fathers and to your kindred, and I will be with you.”

When you vow a vow to God, do not delay paying it, for he has no pleasure in fools. Pay what you vow.It is better that you should not vow than that you should vow and not pay.Let not your mouth lead you into sin, and do not say before the messenger that it was a mistake. Why should God be angry at your voice and destroy the work of your hands?

So Abraham called the name of that place,“ The Lord will provide”; as it is said to this day,“ On the mount of the Lord it shall be provided.”

When Pharaoh heard of it, he sought to kill Moses. But Moses fled from Pharaoh and stayed in the land of Midian. And he sat down by a well.

Jacob left Beersheba and went toward Haran.And he came to a certain place and stayed there that night, because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones of the place, he put it under his head and lay down in that place to sleep.And he dreamed, and behold, there was a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven. And behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it!And behold, the Lord stood above it and said,“ I am the Lord, the God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac. The land on which you lie I will give to you and to your offspring.Your offspring shall be like the dust of the earth, and you shall spread abroad to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south, and in you and your offspring shall all the families of the earth be blessed.Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land. For I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said,“ Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.”And he was afraid and said,“ How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.”So early in the morning Jacob took the stone that he had put under his head and set it up for a pillar and poured oil on the top of it.He called the name of that place Bethel, but the name of the city was Luz at the first.Then Jacob made a vow, saying,“ If God will be with me and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat and clothing to wear,so that I come again to my father’s house in peace, then the Lord shall be my God,and this stone, which I have set up for a pillar, shall be God’s house. And of all that you give me I will give a full tenth to you.”

Behold, upon the mountains, the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace! Keep your feasts, O Judah; fulfill your vows, for never again shall the worthless pass through you; he is utterly cut off.
