我在所夺取的财物中看见一件美好的示拿外袍，二百舍客勒银子，一条重五十舍客勒的金子。我贪爱这些物件，就拿去了。看哪，这些东西都埋在我帐棚内的地里，银子在外袍底下。”

亚达月十三日，在王各省其余的犹太人也都聚集，保护自己的性命，摆脱仇敌得享平安。他们杀了七万五千个恨他们的人，却没有下手夺取财物；十四日他们休息，以这日为设宴欢乐的日子。

那人说：“谁立你作我们的领袖和审判官呢？难道你要杀我，像杀那埃及人一样吗？”摩西就惧怕，说：“这事一定是让人知道了。”

你起来，去叫百姓分别为圣，说：‘你们要为了明天使自己分别为圣，因为耶和华—以色列的上帝这样说：以色列啊，在你中间有当灭的物；你们若不把你们中间当灭之物除掉，你在仇敌面前必站立不住！’

以色列人在当灭之物上犯了罪。犹大支派中，谢拉的曾孙，撒底的孙子，迦米的儿子亚干取了当灭之物，耶和华的怒气就向以色列人发作。

那地的族长希未人哈抹的儿子示剑看见她，就拉住她，与她同寝，玷辱了她。
