After Jacob came from Paddan Aram, he arrived safely at the city of Shechem in Canaan and camped within sight of the city.

耶路．巴力的儿子亚比米勒，到示剑去见他的众母舅，对他们和他母亲的全体族人说：

运到示剑，埋葬在亚伯拉罕用银子向哈抹子孙买来的坟地里。

约书亚在示剑召集以色列各支派，又把以色列的长老、首领、审判官和官长都召了来，他们就站在神面前。

以撒娶利百加为妻的时候，正四十岁。利百加是巴旦．亚兰地、亚兰人彼土利的女儿，是亚兰人拉班的妹妹。

于是到了撒玛利亚的一座城，名叫叙加；这城靠近雅各给他儿子约瑟的那块地。

起来，到巴旦．亚兰你外祖父彼土利的家里去，在那里娶你舅父拉班的一个女儿为妻。

以扫见以撒给雅各祝福，又打发他到巴旦．亚兰去，在那里娶妻；又见以撒给雅各祝福的时候，吩咐他说：“你不可娶迦南的女子为妻”；又见雅各听从了他父母的话，到巴旦．亚兰去了；

雅各从巴旦．亚兰回来以后，神再次向他显现，赐福给他。

以上这些人是利亚在巴旦．亚兰给雅各生的儿子，另外还有女儿底拿。这些子孙一共三十三人。

约翰也在靠近撒冷的艾嫩施洗，因为那里水多；众人都去受洗。
