死亡的繩索纏繞我，險惡的急流驚擾我；陰間的繩索圍繞我，死亡的陷阱迎向我。

於是他們在危難中向耶和華呼求，他就解救他們脫離困境；

耶穌對他們說：「為什麼膽怯呢？你們這些小信的人哪！」耶穌就起來，斥責風和浪，湖面就變得一片平靜。

其實，所有想要在基督耶穌裡過敬神生活的，也都會受到逼迫；

求你救我脫離我哥哥以掃的手，因為我畏懼他，恐怕他來擊殺我，連母親和孩子也一同擊殺。

恩待人、借予人的，是有福之人，他秉公辦事；

我心裡虛弱的時候，就從地極向你呼求；求你引導我到那比我更高的磐石。

我聽見許多的謠言，四圍都是恐嚇；他們一同商定對付我，決意取走我的性命。

弟兄們，我們不願意你們不明白我們在亞細亞省所遭受的患難：我們所受的壓力遠遠過於我們的承受能力，甚至連活下去的希望也沒有了。然而我們在自己裡面已經承受了死亡的判決，好讓我們不依靠自己，而依靠那使死人復活的神。他救我們脫離了如此致命的危險，並且將來要救我們——我們盼望他將來還要救我們。

堅固門徒們的心，鼓勵他們持守信仰，說：「我們進入神的國，必須經過很多患難。」

因為他的神指示他，教導他農耕之法。

謀略會看守你，聰慧會守護你，

在我們一切的患難中，他安慰我們，使我們自己能用從神所受的安慰去安慰那些在各樣患難中的人，

求你向我右邊觀看，沒有人理睬我，我沒有避難的地方，也沒有人顧念我的靈魂！

我把這些事告訴了你們，好讓你們在我裡面有平安。在世上你們有患難，然而你們要鼓起勇氣！我已經勝過了這世界。」

我的心在我裡面痛苦，死亡的恐怖落在我身上。懼怕和戰兢臨到我，驚駭籠罩著我。
