He instructed them:“ This is what you are to say to my lord Esau:‘ Your servant Jacob says, I have been staying with Laban and have remained there till now.

Jacob told the messengers what to do. He said,“ Here’s what you must tell my master Esau.‘ Your servant Jacob says,“ I’ve been staying with Laban. I’ve remained there until now.

instructing them,“ Thus you shall say to my lord Esau: Thus says your servant Jacob,‘ I have sojourned with Laban and stayed until now.

He told them,“ Give this message to my master Esau:‘ Humble greetings from your servant Jacob. Until now I have been living with Uncle Laban,

He commanded them,“ You are to say to my lord Esau,‘ This is what your servant Jacob says. I have been staying with Laban and have been delayed until now.

因為每一個自我高舉的都會被降卑；而自我降卑的都會被高舉。」

溫和的回答，使怒火消退；尖刻的話語，會激起怒氣。

你就回答：『是你僕人雅各的，是送給我主以掃的禮物。看哪，他自己也在我們後面。』」

就像撒拉順從亞伯拉罕，稱他為主那樣；當你們行善而不怕任何驚擾的時候，就成為撒拉的兒女了。

「我主啊，請聽我們說！你在我們中間是尊貴的王子，請在我們最好的墳地安葬你的死者吧！我們中沒有一個人會阻止你在他的墳地安葬你的死者。」

以掃說：「我所遇見的這一整隊，是什麼意思呢？」雅各說：「是為了在我主眼前蒙恩。」

掃羅認出大衛的聲音，就問：「我兒大衛，這是你的聲音嗎？」大衛回答：「我主我王啊，是我的聲音。」

如果管轄者的怒氣向你上騰，你不要離開你的本位，因為平靜能止住極大的罪過。

以撒就回答以掃，說：「看哪，我已經立他為你的主人，又把他所有的兄弟給他為僕人，並把五穀和新酒供給了他。我兒啊，現在我還能為你做什麼呢？」

如果你做得好，能不蒙悅納嗎？如果你做得不好，罪就伏在門口了；它必戀慕你，而你要管轄它。」

願萬民服事你，萬族向你下拜；願你成為你兄弟們的主人，你母親的兒子們向你下拜。詛咒你的人，願他受詛咒；祝福你的人，願他蒙祝福。」

那麼，我兒啊，既然你已經落在鄰人的掌中，你就當這樣做來解救自己：你當去，謙卑下來，懇求你的鄰人；

我有牛、驢、羊群、男僕和婢女；我派人來告訴我主，為要在你眼前蒙恩。」』」
