He instructed them:“ This is what you are to say to my lord Esau:‘ Your servant Jacob says, I have been staying with Laban and have remained there till now.

Jacob told the messengers what to do. He said,“ Here’s what you must tell my master Esau.‘ Your servant Jacob says,“ I’ve been staying with Laban. I’ve remained there until now.

instructing them,“ Thus you shall say to my lord Esau: Thus says your servant Jacob,‘ I have sojourned with Laban and stayed until now.

He told them,“ Give this message to my master Esau:‘ Humble greetings from your servant Jacob. Until now I have been living with Uncle Laban,

He commanded them,“ You are to say to my lord Esau,‘ This is what your servant Jacob says. I have been staying with Laban and have been delayed until now.

因為自高的人必遭貶抑，謙卑的人必得尊榮。」

溫和的回答平息怒氣，粗暴的言詞激起憤怒。

你就說，『是僕人雅各要送給他主人以掃的禮物，他自己就跟在後面。』」

正如撒拉順服亞伯拉罕，稱他為主人。所以，如果你們做對的事，不怕恐嚇，就是撒拉的女兒。

他們便腰束麻布，頭套繩索，來見以色列王，說：「僕人便·哈達求王開恩饒命啊！」亞哈回答說：「他還活著嗎？他是我的兄弟。」

「我主，請聽我們說，你在我們中間是一位尊貴的王子，你可以選我們這裡最好的墳地，沒有人會反對你使用他的墳地埋葬你的妻子。」

以掃說：「我在路上遇見的那一群群牲畜是怎麼回事？」雅各回答說：「我帶來這些是要得到我主的恩待。」

掃羅聽出是大衛的聲音，就說：「我兒大衛！是你嗎？」大衛答道：「我主我王啊，是我。

如果當權的人向你大發雷霆，不要因此就離開崗位，因為平心靜氣能避免大錯。

以撒對以掃說：「我已經立他做你的主人，使他的眾弟兄做他的僕人，並給他五穀和新酒。孩子啊，我還能為你做什麼呢？」

如果你做得對，難道不會蒙悅納嗎？如果你做得不對，罪就蹲在你的門口要控制你，但你必須制伏罪。」

願萬民都臣服於你，萬國都向你下拜。願你成為你弟兄的主人，願你母親的兒子向你下拜。咒詛你的，願他受咒詛；祝福你的，願他蒙祝福。」

孩子啊，你已落入鄰人的手中，你當如此自救：要謙卑地向他求情。

亞倫回答說：「求我主不要動怒，你知道這些人專門作惡。

現在他帶了牛羊、驢和僕婢回來見你，派我們來報信，希望得到你的恩待。』」
