Jacob called the name of the place Peniel; for he said,“ I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.”

So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying,“ It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared.”

So Jacob named the place Peniel. He said,“ I saw God face to face. But I’m still alive!”

So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel, saying,“ For I have seen God face to face, and yet my life has been delivered.”

Jacob named the place Peniel( which means“ face of God”), for he said,“ I have seen God face to face, yet my life has been spared.”

Jacob then named the place Peniel,“ For I have seen God face to face,” he said,“ yet my life has been spared.”

So Jacob named the place Peniel, for he said,“ I have seen God face to face, yet my life has been spared.”

So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel:“ For I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.”

And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for, said he, I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.

Jacob then named the place Peniel,“ For I have seen God face to face,” he said,“ and I have been delivered.”

And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.

So Jacob named the place Peniel, explaining,“ Certainly I have seen God face to face and have survived.”

They saw the God of Israel. Under his feet was like a paved work of sapphire stone, like the skies for clearness.He didn’t lay his hand on the nobles of the children of Israel. They saw God, and ate and drank.

She called the name of Yahweh who spoke to her,“ You are a God who sees,” for she said,“ Have I even stayed alive after seeing him?”

With him, I will speak mouth to mouth, even plainly, and not in riddles; and he shall see Yahweh’s form. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant, against Moses?”

and you said,“ Behold, Yahweh our God has shown us his glory and his greatness, and we have heard his voice out of the middle of the fire. We have seen today that God does speak with man, and he lives.

Then I said,“ Woe is me! For I am undone, because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell among a people of unclean lips: for my eyes have seen the King, Yahweh of Armies!”

He said,“ I will make all my goodness pass before you, and will proclaim Yahweh’s name before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.”He said,“ You cannot see my face, for man may not see me and live.”Yahweh also said,“ Behold, there is a place by me, and you shall stand on the rock.It will happen, while my glory passes by, that I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and will cover you with my hand until I have passed by;then I will take away my hand, and you will see my back; but my face shall not be seen.”

No one has seen God at any time. The one and only Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, has declared him.

He went up there to Penuel, and spoke to them in the same way; and the men of Penuel answered him as the men of Succoth had answered.

He broke down the tower of Penuel, and killed the men of the city.

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.

that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him,

but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who abolished death, and brought life and immortality to light through the Good News.

Since then, there has not arisen a prophet in Israel like Moses, whom Yahweh knew face to face,

He said,“ My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

seeing it is God who said,“ Light will shine out of darkness,” who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

But Yahweh’s angel didn’t appear to Manoah or to his wife any more. Then Manoah knew that he was Yahweh’s angel.Manoah said to his wife,“ We shall surely die, because we have seen God.”

Then Jeroboam built Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim, and lived in it; and he went out from there, and built Penuel.

Gideon saw that he was Yahweh’s angel; and Gideon said,“ Alas, Lord Yahweh! Because I have seen Yahweh’s angel face to face!”Yahweh said to him,“ Peace be to you! Don’t be afraid. You shall not die.”

I marvel that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ to a different“ good news”,

He called the name of that place Bethel, but the name of the city was Luz at the first.

But we all, with unveiled face seeing the glory of the Lord as in a mirror, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord, the Spirit.

By faith, he left Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.
