So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying,“ It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared.”

So Jacob named the place Peniel. He said,“ I saw God face to face. But I’m still alive!”

So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel, saying,“ For I have seen God face to face, and yet my life has been delivered.”

And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for, said he, I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.

So Jacob named the place Peniel, explaining,“ Certainly I have seen God face to face and have survived.”

and they saw the God of Israel. And there was under His feet as it were a paved work of sapphire stone, and it was like the very heavens in its clarity.But on the nobles of the children of Israel He did not lay His hand. So they saw God, and they ate and drank.

Then she called the name of the Lord who spoke to her, You-Are-the-God-Who-Sees; for she said,“ Have I also here seen Him who sees me?”

I speak with him face to face, Even plainly, and not in dark sayings; And he sees the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid To speak against My servant Moses?”

And you said:‘ surely the Lord our God has shown us His glory and His greatness, and we have heard His voice from the midst of the fire. We have seen this day that God speaks with man; yet he still lives.

So I said:“ Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The Lord of hosts.”

Then He said,“ I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.”But He said,“ You cannot see My face; for no man shall see Me, and live.”And the Lord said,“ Here is a place by Me, and you shall stand on the rock.So it shall be, while My glory passes by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock, and will cover you with My hand while I pass by.Then I will take away My hand, and you shall see My back; but My face shall not be seen.”

No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.

Then he went up from there to Penuel and spoke to them in the same way. And the men of Penuel answered him as the men of Succoth had answered.

Then he tore down the tower of Penuel and killed the men of the city.

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,

but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,

But since then there has not arisen in Israel a prophet like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face,

And He said,“ My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

When the Angel of the Lord appeared no more to Manoah and his wife, then Manoah knew that He was the Angel of the Lord.And Manoah said to his wife,“ We shall surely die, because we have seen God!”

Then Jeroboam built Shechem in the mountains of Ephraim, and dwelt there. Also he went out from there and built Penuel.

Now Gideon perceived that He was the Angel of the Lord. So Gideon said,“ Alas, O Lord GOD! For I have seen the Angel of the Lord face to face.”Then the Lord said to him,“ Peace be with you; do not fear, you shall not die.”

I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel,

And he called the name of that place Bethel; but the name of that city had been Luz previously.

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible.
