So Jacob named the place Peniel. He said,“ I saw God face to face. But I’m still alive!”

So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying,“ It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared.”

Jacob named the place Peniel( which means“ face of God”), for he said,“ I have seen God face to face, yet my life has been spared.”

So Jacob named the place Peniel, explaining,“ Certainly I have seen God face to face and have survived.”

They saw the God of Israel. Under his feet was something like a street made out of lapis lazuli. It was as bright blue as the sky itself.But God didn’t destroy those Israelite leaders when they saw him. They ate and drank.

She gave a name to the Lord who spoke to her. She called him“ You are the God who sees me.” That’s because she said,“ I have now seen the One who sees me.”

With Moses I speak face to face. I speak with him clearly. I do not speak in riddles. I let him see something of what I look like. So why were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?”

You said,“ The Lord our God has shown us his glory and majesty. We have heard his voice coming out of the fire. Today we have seen that a person can still stay alive even if God speaks with them.

“ How terrible it is for me!” I cried out.“ I’m about to be destroyed! My mouth speaks sinful words. And I live among people who speak sinful words. Now I have seen the King with my own eyes. He is the Lord who rules over all.”

The Lord said,“ I will make all my goodness pass in front of you. And I will announce my name, the Lord, in front of you. I will have mercy on whom I have mercy. And I will show love to those I love.But you can’t see my face,” he said.“ No one can see me and stay alive.”The Lord continued,“ There is a place near me where you can stand on a rock.When my glory passes by, I will put you in an opening in the rock. I will cover you with my hand until I have passed by.Then I will remove my hand. You will see my back. But my face must not be seen.”

No one has ever seen God. But the One and Only is God and is at the Father’s side. The one at the Father’s side has shown us what God is like.

From there Gideon went up to Peniel. He asked its men for the same thing. But they answered as the men of Sukkoth had.

He also pulled down the tower at Peniel. He killed the men in the town.

The Son is the exact likeness of God, who can’t be seen. The Son is first, and he is over all creation.

I pray to the God of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is the glorious Father. I keep asking him to give you the wisdom and understanding that come from the Holy Spirit. I want you to know God better.

It has now been made known through the coming of our Savior, Christ Jesus. He has broken the power of death. Because of the good news, he has brought life out into the light. That life never dies.

Since then, Israel has never had a prophet like Moses. The Lord knew him face to face.

The Lord replied,“ I will go with you. And I will give you rest.”

God said,“ Let light shine out of darkness.”( Genesis 1:3) He made his light shine in our hearts. His light gives us the light to know God’s glory. His glory is shown in the face of Christ.

The angel of the Lord didn’t show himself again to Manoah and his wife. Then Manoah realized it was the angel of the Lord.“ We’re going to die!” he said to his wife.“ We’ve seen God!”

Jeroboam built up the walls of Shechem. It was in the hill country of Ephraim. Jeroboam made Shechem his home. From there he went out and built up Peniel.

Gideon realized it was the angel of the Lord. He cried out,“ Oh no, my Lord and King, I have seen the angel of the Lord face to face!”But the Lord said to him,“ May peace be with you! Do not be afraid. You are not going to die.”

I am amazed. You are so quickly deserting the one who chose you. He chose you to live in the grace that Christ has provided. You are turning to a different“ good news.”

He named that place Bethel. But the city used to be called Luz.

None of our faces are covered with a veil. All of us can see the Lord’s glory and think deeply about it. So we are being changed to become more like him so that we have more and more glory. And this glory comes from the Lord, who is the Holy Spirit.

Because of his faith, Moses left Egypt. It wasn’t because he was afraid of the king’s anger. He didn’t let anything stop him. That’s because he saw the God who can’t be seen.
