So Jacob named the place Peniel, explaining,“ Certainly I have seen God face to face and have survived.”

So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying,“ It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared.”

So Jacob named the place Peniel. He said,“ I saw God face to face. But I’m still alive!”

So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel, saying,“ For I have seen God face to face, and yet my life has been delivered.”

Jacob named the place Peniel( which means“ face of God”), for he said,“ I have seen God face to face, yet my life has been spared.”

So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel:“ For I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.”

and they saw the God of Israel. Under his feet there was something like a pavement made of sapphire, clear like the sky itself.But he did not lay a hand on the leaders of the Israelites, so they saw God, and they ate and they drank.

So Hagar named the LORD who spoke to her,“ You are the God who sees me,” for she said,“ Here I have seen one who sees me!”

With him I will speak face to face, openly, and not in riddles; and he will see the form of the LORD. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?”

And the LORD said,“ I will make all my goodness pass before your face, and I will proclaim the LORD by name before you; I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, I will show mercy to whom I will show mercy.”But he added,“ You cannot see my face, for no one can see me and live.”The LORD said,“ Here is a place by me; you will station yourself on a rock.When my glory passes by, I will put you in a cleft in the rock and will cover you with my hand while I pass by.Then I will take away my hand, and you will see my back, but my face must not be seen.”

No one has ever seen God. The only one, himself God, who is in closest fellowship with the Father, has made God known.

He went up from there to Penuel and made the same request. The men of Penuel responded the same way the men of Succoth had.

He also tore down the tower of Penuel and executed the city’s men.

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation,

I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you spiritual wisdom and revelation in your growing knowledge of him,

but now made visible through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus. He has broken the power of death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel!

No prophet ever again arose in Israel like Moses, who knew the LORD face to face.

And the LORD said,“ My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

For God, who said“ Let light shine out of darkness,” is the one who shined in our hearts to give us the light of the glorious knowledge of God in the face of Christ.

The LORD’s messenger did not appear again to Manoah and his wife. After all this happened Manoah realized that the visitor had been the LORD’s messenger.Manoah said to his wife,“ We will certainly die, because we have seen a supernatural being!”

Jeroboam built up Shechem in the Ephraimite hill country and lived there. From there he went out and built up Penuel.

When Gideon realized that it was the LORD’s messenger, he said,“ Oh no! Master, LORD! I have seen the LORD’s messenger face to face!”The LORD said to him,“ You are safe! Do not be afraid! You are not going to die!”

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are following a different gospel–

He called that place Bethel, although the former name of the town was Luz.

And we all, with unveiled faces reflecting the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another, which is from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

By faith he left Egypt without fearing the king’s anger, for he persevered as though he could see the one who is invisible.
