So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying,“ It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared.”

So Jacob named the place Peniel. He said,“ I saw God face to face. But I’m still alive!”

So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel, saying,“ For I have seen God face to face, and yet my life has been delivered.”

You said,‘ Behold, the Lord our God has shown us His glory and His greatness, and we have heard His voice from the midst of the fire; we have seen today that God speaks with mankind, yet he lives.

Then I said,“ Woe to me, for I am ruined! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I live among a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of armies.”

And He said,“ I Myself will make all My goodness pass before you, and will proclaim the name of the Lord before you; and I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show compassion to whom I will show compassion.”He further said,“ You cannot see My face, for mankind shall not see Me and live!”Then the Lord said,“ Behold, there is a place by Me, and you shall stand there on the rock;and it will come about, while My glory is passing by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock and cover you with My hand until I have passed by.Then I will take My hand away and you shall see My back, but My face shall not be seen.”

No one has seen God at any time; God the only Son, who is in the arms of the Father, He has explained Him.

Then he went up from there to Penuel and spoke similarly to them; and the men of Penuel answered him just as the men of Succoth had answered.

And he tore down the tower of Penuel and killed the men of the city.

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation:

that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him.

but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,

Since that time no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face,

And He said,“ My presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest.”

For God, who said,“ Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

Now the angel of the Lord did not appear to Manoah or his wife again. Then Manoah knew that he was the angel of the Lord.So Manoah said to his wife,“ We will certainly die, for we have seen God.”

Then Jeroboam built Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim, and lived there. And he went out from there and built Penuel.

When Gideon perceived that he was the angel of the Lord, he said,“ Oh, Lord God! For I have seen the angel of the Lord face to face!”But the Lord said to him,“ Peace to you, do not be afraid; you shall not die.”

I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel,

Then he named that place Bethel; but previously the name of the city had been Luz.

But we all, with unveiled faces, looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he persevered, as though seeing Him who is unseen.
