Jacob then named the place Peniel,“ For I have seen God face to face,” he said,“ and I have been delivered.”

So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying,“ It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared.”

So Jacob named the place Peniel. He said,“ I saw God face to face. But I’m still alive!”

So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel, saying,“ For I have seen God face to face, and yet my life has been delivered.”

So Jacob named the place Peniel, explaining,“ Certainly I have seen God face to face and have survived.”

and they saw the God of Israel. Beneath His feet was something like a pavement made of sapphire stone, as clear as the sky itself.God did not harm the Israelite nobles; they saw Him, and they ate and drank.

So she called the Lord who spoke to her: The God Who Sees, for she said,“ In this place, have I actually seen the One who sees me?”

I speak with him directly, openly, and not in riddles; he sees the form of the Lord. So why were you not afraid to speak against My servant Moses?”

You said,‘ Look, the Lord our God has shown us His glory and greatness, and we have heard His voice from the fire. Today we have seen that God speaks with a person, yet he still lives.

Then I said: Woe is me for I am ruined because I am a man of unclean lips and live among a people of unclean lips, and because my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of Hosts.

He said,“ I will cause all My goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim the name Yahweh before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.”But He answered,“ You cannot see My face, for no one can see Me and live.”The Lord said,“ Here is a place near Me. You are to stand on the rock,and when My glory passes by, I will put you in the crevice of the rock and cover you with My hand until I have passed by.Then I will take My hand away, and you will see My back, but My face will not be seen.”

No one has ever seen God. The One and Only Son— the One who is at the Father’s side— He has revealed Him.

He went from there to Penuel and asked the same thing from them. The men of Penuel answered just as the men of Succoth had answered.

He also tore down the tower of Penuel and killed the men of the city.

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, would give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him.

This has now been made evident through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus, who has abolished death and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.

No prophet has arisen again in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face.

Then He replied,“ My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

For God who said,“ Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of God’s glory in the face of Jesus Christ.

The Angel of the Lord did not appear again to Manoah and his wife. Then Manoah realized that it was the Angel of the Lord.“ We’re going to die,” he said to his wife,“ because we have seen God!”

Jeroboam built Shechem in the hill country of Ephraim and lived there. From there he went out and built Penuel.

When Gideon realized that He was the Angel of the Lord, he said,“ Oh no, Lord God! I have seen the Angel of the Lord face to face!”But the Lord said to him,“ Peace to you. Don’t be afraid, for you will not die.”

I am amazed that you are so quickly turning away from Him who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—

and named the place Bethel, though previously the city was named Luz.

We all, with unveiled faces, are looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord and are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory; this is from the Lord who is the Spirit.

By faith he left Egypt behind, not being afraid of the king’s anger, for Moses persevered as one who sees Him who is invisible.
