When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket of Jacob’s hip so that his hip was wrenched as he wrestled with the man.

The man saw that he couldn’t win. So he touched the inside of Jacob’s hip. As Jacob wrestled with the man, Jacob’s hip was twisted.

When the man saw that he did not prevail against Jacob, he touched his hip socket, and Jacob’s hip was put out of joint as he wrestled with him.

When the man saw that he would not win the match, he touched Jacob’s hip and wrenched it out of its socket.

When the man saw that he could not defeat him, he struck Jacob’s hip socket as they wrestled and dislocated his hip.

When the man saw that he had not prevailed against him, he touched the socket of Jacob’s hip; and the socket of Jacob’s hip was dislocated while he wrestled with him.

Now when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He touched the socket of his hip; and the socket of Jacob’s hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him.

And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was strained, as he wrestled with him.

When the man saw that He could not defeat him, He struck Jacob’s hip socket as they wrestled and dislocated his hip.

為了使我不至於因所受的啟示太大而自高，有一根「刺」在我身上，就是有撒旦的爪牙攻擊我，免得我驕傲自大。我曾三次祈求主叫這根刺離開我，但祂說：「我的恩典足夠你用，因為我的能力在人的軟弱上更顯得全備。」所以，我更喜歡誇耀自己的軟弱，好讓基督的能力蔭庇我。

雅各在母胎之中曾抓住哥哥的腳跟，壯年之時曾跟上帝角力。他跟天使角力得勝，向天使哭求福分。他在伯特利遇見祂，在那裡與祂說話——

以色列人至今都不吃大腿窩的筋，因為那人摸過雅各大腿窩的筋。

我在順境中曾說：「我永不動搖。」耶和華啊，你向我施恩，我便穩固如山；你掩面不理我，我就驚慌失措。

「如蛆如蟲的雅各啊，以色列人啊，不要怕！我耶和華必幫助你。以色列的聖者是你的救贖主。

你們要警醒禱告，免得陷入誘惑。你們的心靈雖然願意，肉體卻很軟弱。」

摩西對耶和華說：「你曾經用大能把以色列人從埃及領出來，埃及人聽說這事後，一定會告訴迦南的居民。那裡的居民早已聽說你耶和華與以色列人同在，你面對面向他們顯現，你的雲彩停留在他們上面，你白天用雲柱、黑夜用火柱引導他們。

那地方有個迦南的婦人前來大聲懇求耶穌：「主啊！大衛的後裔啊！可憐我吧！我的女兒被鬼附身，受盡折磨！」耶穌卻一言不發。門徒上前求祂說：「請讓她走吧！她老是在後面喊叫。」耶穌說：「我奉差遣只是來尋找以色列家迷失的羊。」那婦人上前跪下，說：「主啊！求你幫幫我吧！」耶穌答道：「把兒女的食物丟給狗吃，實在說不過去。」婦人說：「主啊，沒錯，可是狗也吃主人飯桌上掉下來的碎渣呀！」耶穌說：「婦人，你的信心真大！我答應你的要求。」就在那一刻，她女兒就好了。

你趕快逃吧，因為你還沒有到那裡之前，我不能動手。」從此那城便叫瑣珥。

耶和華——以色列的聖者和創造主說：「你們就我子民將來的事質問我嗎？你們發號施令要告訴我如何做嗎？

耶穌再次離開他們，第三次去禱告，說的是同樣的話。

耶穌又對他們說：「假設你在半夜跑去朋友家請求說，『朋友，請借給我三個餅吧，因為有一位朋友遠道而來，我家沒有什麼可以招待他。』那個人在屋裡應聲說，『請別打攪我，門已經鎖上了，我和孩子們也已經上床了，我不能起來給你拿餅。』「我告訴你們，那人雖不念朋友之情，但是倘若你不肯甘休，繼續請求，他最終會起來滿足你的願望。
