在餽送的人看來，賄賂有如靈符（“靈符”原文作“恩惠寶石”）；無論他到哪裡，都必順利。

約瑟回到家裡，他們就把手中的禮物帶進屋裡送給他，又俯伏在地向他下拜。

當時治理埃及地的官長是約瑟，賣糧給那地所有的人民的就是他。所以，約瑟的哥哥們來俯伏在地向他下拜。

你們還要說：‘你的僕人雅各在我們後面。’”因為他心裡想：“我先送禮物去，藉此與他和解，然後再與他見面，或者他會原諒我﹙“他會原諒我”或譯：“他會接納我”﹚。”於是禮物先過去了；那天晚上雅各在營中過夜。

你可以問問你的僕人，他們必會告訴你。願我派來的這些僕人在你眼前蒙恩，因為我們是在好日子來的，請你把手中所有的，隨便賞賜一點給你的僕人和你的兒子大衛。’”

雅各說：“請不要這樣，我若得你的喜悅，就求你從我手裡收下這些禮物吧；因為我看見了你的面，就好像見了神的面；你實在恩待了我。

他舉目觀看，忽然看見三個人在他對面站著；亞伯拉罕看見了，就從帳棚門口跑去迎接他們，俯伏在地，

現在，請把你婢女給我主帶來的這禮物，賜給跟隨我主的僕人。
