在馈送的人看来，贿赂有如灵符（“灵符”原文作“恩惠宝石”）；无论他到哪里，都必顺利。

约瑟回到家里，他们就把手中的礼物带进屋里送给他，又俯伏在地向他下拜。

当时治理埃及地的官长是约瑟，卖粮给那地所有的人民的就是他。所以，约瑟的哥哥们来俯伏在地向他下拜。

你们还要说：‘你的仆人雅各在我们后面。’”因为他心里想：“我先送礼物去，藉此与他和解，然后再与他见面，或者他会原谅我﹙“他会原谅我”或译：“他会接纳我”﹚。”于是礼物先过去了；那天晚上雅各在营中过夜。

你可以问问你的仆人，他们必会告诉你。愿我派来的这些仆人在你眼前蒙恩，因为我们是在好日子来的，请你把手中所有的，随便赏赐一点给你的仆人和你的儿子大卫。’”

雅各说：“请不要这样，我若得你的喜悦，就求你从我手里收下这些礼物吧；因为我看见了你的面，就好像见了神的面；你实在恩待了我。

他举目观看，忽然看见三个人在他对面站着；亚伯拉罕看见了，就从帐棚门口跑去迎接他们，俯伏在地，

现在，请把你婢女给我主带来的这礼物，赐给跟随我主的仆人。
