Terah fathered Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran fathered Lot.Haran died in the presence of his father Terah in the land of his kindred, in Ur of the Chaldeans.And Abram and Nahor took wives. The name of Abram’s wife was Sarai, and the name of Nahor’s wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran the father of Milcah and Iscah.

that I may make you swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and God of the earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell,but will go to my country and to my kindred, and take a wife for my son Isaac.”

It is the Lord your God you shall fear. Him you shall serve and by his name you shall swear.

Now therefore swear to me here by God that you will not deal falsely with me or with my descendants or with my posterity, but as I have dealt kindly with you, so you will deal with me and with the land where you have sojourned.”And Abraham said,“ I will swear.”

Now after these things it was told to Abraham,“ Behold, Milcah also has borne children to your brother Nahor:Uz his firstborn, Buz his brother, Kemuel the father of Aram,Chesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph, and Bethuel.”( Bethuel fathered Rebekah.) These eight Milcah bore to Nahor, Abraham’s brother.Moreover, his concubine, whose name was Reumah, bore Tebah, Gaham, Tahash, and Maacah.

They said,“ We see plainly that the Lord has been with you. So we said, let there be a sworn pact between us, between you and us, and let us make a covenant with you,that you will do us no harm, just as we have not touched you and have done to you nothing but good and have sent you away in peace. You are now the blessed of the Lord.”So he made them a feast, and they ate and drank.In the morning they rose early and exchanged oaths. And Isaac sent them on their way, and they departed from him in peace.

And behold, the Lord stood above it and said,“ I am the Lord, the God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac. The land on which you lie I will give to you and to your offspring.

Terah took Abram his son and Lot the son of Haran, his grandson, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram’s wife, and they went forth together from Ur of the Chaldeans to go into the land of Canaan, but when they came to Haran, they settled there.

But Abram said to the king of Sodom,“ I have lifted my hand to the Lord, God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth,

And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your offspring after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your offspring after you.
