It was also called Mizpah, because he said,“ May the Lord keep watch between you and me when we are away from each other.

那時，耶和華的靈降在耶弗他身上，他便經過基列和瑪拿西，來到基列的米斯巴，然後從那裡去迎戰亞捫人。

當時，亞捫人整裝備戰，在基列安營；以色列人也集合起來，在米斯巴安營。

於是，耶弗他便跟他們一起回去。民眾擁立他做他們的首領和元帥。耶弗他在米斯巴將之前所說的話在耶和華面前重申一遍。

「祭司啊，要聽！以色列家啊，要留心聽！王室啊，要側耳聽！這是對你們的審判，因為你們像設在米斯巴的圈套，鋪在他泊山的網羅。

撒母耳又說：「你們全體以色列人到米斯巴來，我會為你們向耶和華祈求。」他們就在那裡聚集，打水倒在耶和華面前，並在當天禁食。他們說：「我們得罪了耶和華。」於是，撒母耳在米斯巴做以色列人的士師。

亞撒王令全國的猶大人出動，將巴沙修築拉瑪城的石頭和木材搬走，用來修建便雅憫的迦巴和米斯巴。
