This was my situation: The heat consumed me in the daytime and the cold at night, and sleep fled from my eyes.

And what was my life like? The heat burned me in the daytime. And it was so cold at night that I froze. I couldn’t sleep.

There I was: by day the heat consumed me, and the cold by night, and my sleep fled from my eyes.

“ I worked for you through the scorching heat of the day and through cold and sleepless nights.

Jacob fled to the country of Aram; Israel served to get a wife, and to pay for her he tended sheep. (niv)

Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them— not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve;not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away. And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. (niv)

Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. (niv)

Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. (niv)
