Why did you run off secretly and deceive me? Why didn’t you tell me, so I could send you away with joy and singing to the music of timbrels and harps?

Why did you run away in secret and trick me? Why didn’t you tell me? Then I could have sent you away happily. We could have sung to the music of tambourines and harps.

Why did you flee secretly and trick me, and did not tell me, so that I might have sent you away with mirth and songs, with tambourine and lyre?

Why did you slip away secretly? Why did you deceive me? And why didn’t you say you wanted to leave? I would have given you a farewell feast, with singing and music, accompanied by tambourines and harps.

那時，米利暗女先知，亞倫的姊姊，手裏拿着鈴鼓；眾婦女也跟她出去打鼓跳舞。

雅各回答拉班說：「因為我害怕，我想，恐怕你把你的女兒從我這裏奪走。

火熱的嘴唇，邪惡的心，好像銀渣包在瓦器上。仇敵用嘴唇掩飾，心裏卻藏着詭詐；他用甜言蜜語，你不能相信他，因為他心中有七樣可憎惡的事。他雖用詭詐掩飾怨恨，他的邪惡必在集會中顯露。

雅各瞞住亞蘭人拉班，不通知他就逃走了。雅各帶着他所有的逃走了；他起程，渡過大河，面向着基列山。

基甸就從他僕人中選了十個人，照耶和華吩咐他的做了。他因怕父家和本城的人，不敢在白天做這事，就在夜間做。

耶和華對雅各說：「你要回你祖先之地，到你本族那裏去，我必與你同在。」雅各就派人叫拉結和利亞到田野他的羊羣那裏去，對她們說：「我看你們父親待我的臉色不如從前了，但我父親的神向來與我同在。

於是他們送他們的妹妹利百加和她的奶媽，同亞伯拉罕的僕人，以及隨從他的人走了。他們就為利百加祝福，對她說：「我們的妹妹啊，願你作千萬人的母親！願你的後裔得着仇敵的城門！」

他們打發小男孩出去，多如羊羣，他們的孩子踴躍跳舞。他們隨着琴鼓歌唱，因簫聲歡喜。他們度日諸事亨通，在平安中下到陰間。他們對神說：『離開我們吧！我們不想知道你的道路。

雅八的兄弟名叫猶八；他是所有彈琴吹簫之人的祖師。
