利亞謂為吉慶、故名之曰迦得、

利亞命名伽得、曰、幸甚。

利亞曰、福至矣、故名之曰迦得、迦得譯即福之義

Then Leah said,“ What good fortune!” So she named him Gad.

And Leah said, Fortunate! and she called his name Gad.

Then Leah said,“ What good fortune!” and she named him Gad.

Leah said,“ How fortunate!” So she named him Gad.

Leah said,“ How fortunate!” She named him Gad.

Gad, a troop shall overcome him: but he shall overcome at the last.

And the sons of Zilpah, Leah’s handmaid; Gad, and Asher: these[ are] the sons of Jacob, which were born to him in Padanaram.

But ye[ are] they that forsake the LORD, that forget my holy mountain, that prepare a table for that troop, and that furnish the drink offering unto that number.

And the sons of Gad; Ziphion, and Haggi, Shuni, and Ezbon, Eri, and Arodi, and Areli.

And of Gad he said, Blessed[ be] he that enlargeth Gad: he dwelleth as a lion, and teareth the arm with the crown of the head.And he provided the first part for himself, because there,[ in] a portion of the lawgiver,[ was he] seated; and he came with the heads of the people, he executed the justice of the LORD, and his judgments with Israel.
