耶和华啊，你已经洞察我，认识我！我坐下、我起来，你都知道；你从远方就知道我的意念。我行路、我躺卧，你都细察；你熟悉我的一切道路。耶和华啊，我舌头上的话还没有说，看哪，你已经完全知道了！你前后围绕我，把你的手按在我身上。这知识对我过于奇妙，过于高深，我不能达到。我去到哪里，能逃避你的灵呢？我逃到哪里，能躲避你的面呢？如果我升到天上，你在那里；如果我躺在阴间，看哪，你也在那里！如果我扬起黎明的翅膀，安居在海洋的尽头，纵然在那里，你的手仍引导我，你的右手也抓紧我。就算我说：“黑暗必然覆盖我，我周围的亮光也必变为黑夜”，但对你来说，黑暗也不是黑暗，黑夜如同白昼一样明亮，黑暗就像光明一样。

并且被造之物在神面前，没有一样不是显明的；万有在他眼前，都是赤裸敞开的；我们都要向他交代。

约拿却起来，要避开耶和华的面，逃往塔尔施。他下到约帕，找到一艘去塔尔施的船，付了船费，上了船，要避开耶和华的面，与船上的人往塔尔施去。

耶和华的眼目无处不在；坏人好人，他都察看。

约拿对他们说：“我是希伯来人；我敬畏耶和华天上的神；他就是造了海和陆地的那一位。”那些人就大大惧怕，对他说：“你做的这是什么呢？”原来那些人已经知道他逃避耶和华的面，因为他告诉了他们。

这就显出律法的要求刻在他们的心里，他们的良心也一同作证，而且自己的心思之间，互相控告或辩解。

那人说：“我在园子里听见你的声音就害怕，因为我是赤身的；于是我躲藏了。”
