Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman,“ Did God really say,‘ You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”

The serpent was more clever than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. The serpent said to the woman,“ Did God really say,‘ You must not eat fruit from any tree in the garden’?”

The serpent was the shrewdest of all the wild animals the Lord God had made. One day he asked the woman,“ Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?”

Now the serpent was the most cunning of all the wild animals that the LORD God had made. He said to the woman,“ Did God really say,‘ You can’t eat from any tree in the garden’?”

Now the serpent was more cunning than any animal of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman,“ Has God really said,‘ You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?”

Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman,“ Has God indeed said,‘ You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?”

Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which Jehovah God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of any tree of the garden?

Now the serpent was the most cunning of all the wild animals that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman,“ Did God really say,‘ You can’t eat from any tree in the garden’?”

Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

Now the serpent was more shrewd than any of the wild animals that the LORD God had made. He said to the woman,“ Is it really true that God said,‘ You must not eat from any tree of the orchard’?”

Now the serpent was more subtle than any animal of the field which Yahweh God had made. He said to the woman,“ Has God really said,‘ You shall not eat of any tree of the garden’?”

But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ.

And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.

The great dragon was hurled down— that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.

He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.

“ I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.

The tempter came to him and said,“ If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

Then the Lord God said to the woman,“ What is this you have done?” The woman said,“ The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”So the Lord God said to the serpent,“ Because you have done this,“ Cursed are you above all livestock and all wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life.And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”

“ If you are the Son of God,” he said,“ throw yourself down. For it is written:“‘ He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’”

In that day, the Lord will punish with his sword— his fierce, great and powerful sword— Leviathan the gliding serpent, Leviathan the coiling serpent; he will slay the monster of the sea.

Then the Lord opened the donkey’s mouth, and it said to Balaam,“ What have I done to you to make you beat me these three times?”Balaam answered the donkey,“ You have made a fool of me! If only I had a sword in my hand, I would kill you right now.”

Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.

If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.

“ All this I will give you,” he said,“ if you will bow down and worship me.”
