Again she conceived, and when she gave birth to a son she said,“ Now at last my husband will become attached to me, because I have borne him three sons.” So he was named Levi.

She became pregnant again. She had a son. Then she said,“ Now at last my husband will value me. I have had three sons by him.” So the boy was named Levi.

Again she conceived and bore a son, and said,“ Now this time my husband will be attached to me, because I have borne him three sons.” Therefore his name was called Levi.

Then she became pregnant a third time and gave birth to another son. He was named Levi, for she said,“ Surely this time my husband will feel affection for me, since I have given him three sons!”

She conceived again, gave birth to a son, and said,“ At last, my husband will become attached to me because I have borne three sons for him.” Therefore he was named Levi.

And she conceived again and gave birth to a son, and said,“ Now this time my husband will become attached to me, because I have borne him three sons.” Therefore he was named Levi.

She conceived again and bore a son, and said,“ Now this time my husband will become attached to me, because I have borne him three sons.” Therefore his name was called Levi.

And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Now this time will my husband be joined unto me, because I have borne him three sons: therefore was his name called Levi.

She conceived again, gave birth to a son, and said,“ At last, my husband will become attached to me because I have borne three sons for him.” Therefore he was named Levi.

She became pregnant again and had another son. She said,“ Now this time my husband will show me affection, because I have given birth to three sons for him.” That is why he was named Levi.

She conceived again, and bore a son. She said,“ Now this time my husband will be joined to me, because I have borne him three sons.” Therefore his name was called Levi.

就站在營門前，說：「凡屬耶和華的人，都到我這裏來！」於是利未人都聚集到他那裏。他對他們說：「耶和華－以色列的神這樣說：『你們各人把刀佩在腰間，從這門到那門，來回走遍全營，各人要殺自己的弟兄、鄰舍和親人。』」利未人遵照摩西的話做了。那一天百姓中倒下的約有三千人。摩西說：「今天你們要奉獻自己來事奉耶和華，因為各人犧牲自己的兒子和弟兄，使耶和華今天賜福給你們。」

西緬和利未是兄弟；他們的刀劍是殘暴的兵器。願我的心不與他們同謀，願我的靈不與他們合夥；因為他們在烈怒中殺人，任意割斷牛腿的筋。他們火爆的烈怒可詛，他們兇殘的憤恨可咒！我要把他們分散在雅各中，使他們散居在以色列。

你也要帶你弟兄利未人，就是你父系支派的人前來，與你聯合，服事你。你和你的兒子要一起在法櫃的帳幕前；他們要遵守你的吩咐，負責看守整個帳幕，只是不可挨近聖所的器具和祭壇，免得他們和你們都死亡。他們要與你聯合，負責看守會幕和帳幕一切的事；只是外人不可挨近你們。

到第三天，他們正疼痛的時候，雅各的兩個兒子，就是底拿的哥哥西緬和利未，各拿刀劍，不動聲色地來到城中，把所有的男丁都殺了，

關於利未，他說：『願你的土明和烏陵都在你的虔誠人那裏。你在瑪撒曾考驗他，在米利巴水與他爭論。關於自己的父母，他說：我未曾關注。他的弟兄，他不承認，他的兒女，他也不認識，因為利未人遵行你的話，謹守你的約。他們將你的典章教導雅各，將你的律法教導以色列。他們奉上香讓你聞，把全牲的燔祭獻在你壇上。

有一個利未家的人娶了一個利未女子為妻。

利未的兒子是革順、哥轄、米拉利。

利亞的兒子是雅各的長子呂便，還有西緬、利未、猶大、以薩迦、西布倫。
