He saw in the field a well with three flocks of sheep lying beside it, because the flocks were watered from that well. Now a large stone covered the mouth of the well.

看见田间有一口井，有三群羊卧在井旁；因为人饮羊群都是用那井里的水。井口上的石头是大的。

When Pharaoh heard about this event, he sought to kill Moses. So Moses fled from Pharaoh and settled in the land of Midian, and he settled by a certain well.Now a priest of Midian had seven daughters, and they came and began to draw water and fill the troughs in order to water their father’s flock.

He made the camels kneel down by the well outside the city. It was evening, the time when the women would go out to draw water.

He takes me to lush pastures, he leads me to refreshing water.

Do not stare at me because I am dark, for the sun has burned my skin. My brothers were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards. They will not be hungry or thirsty; the sun’s oppressive heat will not beat down on them, for one who has compassion on them will guide them; he will lead them to springs of water.

Jacob’s well was there, so Jesus, since he was tired from the journey, sat right down beside the well. It was about noon.

But whoever drinks some of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again, but the water that I will give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up to eternal life.”

Here I am, standing by the spring, and the daughters of the people who live in the town are coming out to draw water.
