他一察看，只見田地裏有一口井；那裏有三羣羊躺在井旁；因為人都是將那井裏的水給羊羣喝；那井口上的石頭很大。

法老聽見這事，就想法子要殺摩西；摩西便逃避法老，去住米甸地。有一天他在井旁坐着。米甸的祭司有七個女兒；她們來打水，打滿了槽，要給她們父親的羊羣喝。

他叫駱駝跪在城外水井旁邊；那時正是天晚時分，眾女子出來打水的時候。

他使我躺臥在青草地上：他領着我到靜水之處，

你們不要因我黝黑，因日頭把我曬黑了、你們就盯着我。我的同母弟兄向我發怒；他們叫我顧守着葡萄園，我自己的葡萄園我卻沒有顧守着呢！我心愛的啊，求你告訴我你在哪裏放羊，你中午在哪裏讓羊躺着休息；我何必在你同伴的羊羣旁像流浪徘徊的女郎呢？

他們必不饑餓，不口渴，炎熱和烈日必不傷害他們，因為憐憫他們的、必率領他們，引導他們到水泉旁。

在那裏有雅各泉。耶穌因旅行勞累，就這樣坐在泉旁；那時約在中午十二點。

惟獨凡喝我所要給的水的，一定永遠不渴；我所要給的水、必在他裏面成為水泉，直湧歸永生。』

看哪，我現在站在水泉旁邊，城內人的女子們正出來打水。
