見有井於野、羊羣三、附井而臥、蓋人素由此飲之、井口覆以大石、

見有井於田、大石覆其上、羊群三、附井而卧、蓋人必飲羊於此。

There he saw a well in the open country, with three flocks of sheep lying near it because the flocks were watered from that well. The stone over the mouth of the well was large.

法老聽見這事，就想殺摩西，但摩西躲避法老，逃往米甸地居住。一日，他在井旁坐下。米甸的祭司有七個女兒；她們來打水，打滿了槽，要飲父親的羣羊。

天將晚，眾女子出來打水的時候，他便叫駱駝跪在城外的水井那裏。

他使我躺臥在青草地上，領我在可安歇的水邊。

不要因日頭把我曬黑了就輕看我。我同母的弟兄向我發怒，他們使我看守葡萄園；我自己的葡萄園卻沒有看守。我心所愛的啊，求你告訴我，你在何處牧羊？晌午在何處使羊歇臥？我何必在你同伴的羊羣旁邊好像蒙着臉的人呢？

不飢不渴，炎熱和烈日必不傷害他們；因為憐恤他們的必引導他們，領他們到水泉旁邊。

在那裏有雅各井；耶穌因走路困乏，就坐在井旁。那時約有午正。

人若喝我所賜的水就永遠不渴。我所賜的水要在他裏頭成為泉源，直湧到永生。」

我現今站在井旁，城內居民的女子們正出來打水。
