黃昏時分，女人出來打水的時候，那僕人就叫駱駝跪在城外的水井旁邊，

他使我躺臥在青草地上，領我到安靜的水邊。

你們不要因為我黑，就盯著我，因為太陽把我曬黑了。我母親的兒子生我的氣；他們叫我看守家裡的葡萄園，我自己私人的葡萄園，我卻沒有看守。我心所愛的啊！求你告訴我，你在哪裡放羊？中午你在哪裡使羊群躺臥休息。我為甚麼在你眾同伴的羊群旁邊，好像蒙著臉的女人呢？

他們必不飢餓，也不口渴，炎熱和太陽必不傷害他們，因為那憐憫他們的，要引領他們，帶領他們到水泉的旁邊。

在那裡有雅各井。耶穌因為旅途疲倦了，就坐在井旁；那時大約正午。

人若喝我所賜的水，就永遠不渴。我所賜的水要在他裡面成為湧流的泉源，直湧到永生。”

我現在站在水泉旁邊，城內居民的女兒正出來打水。
