法老听见这事，就设法要杀摩西；摩西躲避法老，就往米甸地去居住；有一天他坐在井旁。米甸的祭司有七个女儿，她们来打水，打满了水槽，要给父亲的羊群喝。

黄昏时分，女人出来打水的时候，那仆人就叫骆驼跪在城外的水井旁边，

他使我躺卧在青草地上，领我到安静的水边。

你们不要因为我黑，就盯着我，因为太阳把我晒黑了。我母亲的儿子生我的气；他们叫我看守家里的葡萄园，我自己私人的葡萄园，我却没有看守。我心所爱的啊！求你告诉我，你在哪里放羊？中午你在哪里使羊群躺卧休息。我为什么在你众同伴的羊群旁边，好像蒙着脸的女人呢？

他们必不饥饿，也不口渴，炎热和太阳必不伤害他们，因为那怜悯他们的，要引领他们，带领他们到水泉的旁边。

在那里有雅各井。耶稣因为旅途疲倦了，就坐在井旁；那时大约正午。

人若喝我所赐的水，就永远不渴。我所赐的水要在他里面成为涌流的泉源，直涌到永生。”

我现在站在水泉旁边，城内居民的女儿正出来打水。
