等到你哥哥對你的怒氣轉消了，忘記你對他所做的事，那時我就會派人把你從那裡接回來。我為什麼在一天之內要喪失你們兩個呢？」

其氣已平、忘爾所為、我則遣人召爾、奚為一日喪二子乎、

When your brother is no longer angry with you and forgets what you did to him, I’ll send word for you to come back from there. Why should I lose both of you in one day?”

注意！有人說：「今天或明天我們要往某城去，在那裏住一年，做買賣賺錢。」其實明天如何，你們還不知道。你們的生命是甚麼呢？你們原來是一片雲霧，出現片刻就不見了。你們倒應當說：「主若願意，我們就能活着，也可以做這事或那事。」

當地的人看見那毒蛇懸在他手上，就彼此說：「這人必是個兇手，雖然他從海裏獲救，天理仍不容他活着。」

婢女有兩個兒子，二人在田間打架，沒有人從中勸解，一個擊殺另一個，把他打死了。看哪，全家族都起來攻擊婢女，說：『把那打死兄弟的交出來，我們好處死他，為他所打死的兄弟償命，滅絕那承受家業的。』這樣，他們要把我剩下的炭火滅盡，不給我丈夫留名或留後在地面上。」

流你們血、害你們命的，我必向他追討；我要向一切走獸追討，向人和向人的弟兄追討人命。凡流人血的，他的血也必被人所流，因為神造人，是照自己的形像造的。

以撒說：「你弟弟已經用詭計來把你的福分奪去了。」

人心多有計謀；惟有耶和華的籌算才能成就。

若非主發命令，誰能說了就成呢？

該隱與他弟弟亞伯說話。二人正在田間時，該隱起來攻擊他弟弟亞伯，把他殺了。耶和華對該隱說：「你弟弟亞伯在哪裏？」他說：「我不知道！我豈是看守我弟弟的嗎？」耶和華說：「你做了甚麼事呢？你弟弟血的聲音從地裏向我哀號。現在你必從這地受詛咒，這地開了口，從你手裏接受你弟弟的血。你耕種土地，它不再給你效力；你必流離飄蕩在地上。」該隱對耶和華說：「我的懲罰太重，過於我所能承當的。看哪，今日你趕我離開這塊土地，不能見你的面；我必流離飄蕩在地上，凡遇見我的必殺我。」耶和華對他說：「既然如此，凡殺該隱的，必遭報七倍。」耶和華就給該隱立一個記號，免得人遇見他就殺他。於是該隱離開了耶和華的面，去住在伊甸東邊挪得之地。
