其氣已平、忘爾所為、我則遣人召爾、奚為一日喪二子乎、

迨爾兄之怒已息、忘爾所行之事、我則遣人召爾歸、豈可一日喪爾二人乎、

When your brother is no longer angry with you and forgets what you did to him, I’ll send word for you to come back from there. Why should I lose both of you in one day?”

現在來吧！你們這些人哪，你們說「今天或明天，我們要到某某城去，要在那裡住上一年，做生意賺錢。」你們不知道明天是什麼、生命是什麼！你們不過是一陣雲霧，出現片刻，隨後就消失了。你們倒應該說：「主如果願意，我們就將活著，做這事或做那事。」

那些土人一看見那毒蛇懸在他的手上，就彼此說：「這個人一定是個殺人犯！雖然從海裡獲救了，但天理還是不讓他活著。」

你的婢女有兩個兒子，他們兩個在田裡打架，沒有人從中調解，一個攻擊另一個，把他打死了。看哪，全家族都起來攻擊婢女，說：『把那打死兄弟的人交出來，讓我們把他處死，抵償被殺的兄弟的性命。讓我們把這繼承人也除滅了！』他們這是要熄滅我的餘火，不讓我丈夫在這地上存留名字和餘種！」

至於你們的生命之血，我必為你們追討：我要向野獸追討，我也要向人，甚至向各人的兄弟追討人命。那殺人流血的，他必被殺流血，因為神是按照自己的形像造人的。

以撒說：「你弟弟心懷詭計地前來，已經奪取了你的祝福。」

人心的意念很多，唯有耶和華的籌算才能成立。

該隱與他的弟弟亞伯說話。他們在田野的時候，該隱就起來攻擊他的弟弟亞伯，把他殺了。耶和華對該隱說：「你弟弟亞伯在哪裡呢？」他說：「我不知道。難道我是看守我兄弟的嗎？」耶和華說：「你做了什麼呢？你弟弟的血從地裡發聲向我呼叫。地張開了口，從你的手中接受了你弟弟的血，所以你現在要從這地受詛咒：你耕耘土地，地卻不再給你效力；你在大地上必成為漂泊、流蕩的人。」該隱對耶和華說：「對我的懲罰太重，超過我所能承擔的。看哪，今天你從這地驅逐我，以致我要躲避你的面，在大地上成為漂泊、流蕩的人，任何找到我的人，都會殺我！」耶和華對他說：「如果是這樣，任何殺死該隱的人，都必受到七倍的報復。」耶和華就在該隱身上放了一個標記，免得找到他的人會擊殺他。於是該隱從耶和華面前出去，住在伊甸東邊的挪德地。
