When your brother is no longer angry with you and forgets what you did to him, I’ll send word for you to come back from there. Why should I lose both of you in one day?”

你們有些人說：「今天或是明天，我們要往某某城去，在那裡逗留一年半載，做生意賺錢。」其實你們根本不知道明天會發生什麼事。你們的生命是什麼呢？你們只不過像一陣霧氣，出現片刻，就無影無蹤了。你們只當說：「如果主許可，我們就可以活著，可以做這事或做那事。」

那裡的居民看見毒蛇吊在保羅手上，就交頭接耳地說：「這人一定是個兇手，雖然僥倖沒有淹死，天理卻不容他活下去。」

我本來有兩個兒子，有一次他們在田間發生爭執，當時沒有人勸解，其中一個兒子被打死了。現在整個家族都起來反對婢女，說，『把那打死親兄弟的兇手交出來，我們要他以命償命，除掉這個繼承人。』他們要斷了我家的香火，使婢女的丈夫既不能留名，也不能留後。」

凡是殺人害命的，無論人或獸，我必向他們追討血債。凡殺人的，我必追討他的血債。凡殺害人的，也必被人殺害，因為人是上帝照著自己的形像造的。

以撒說：「你弟弟已經用詭計把你的福分奪去了。」

人心中有許多計劃，唯耶和華的旨意成就。

若非主許可，誰的話可以兌現呢？

該隱對弟弟亞伯說：「我們去田間吧！」他們在田間的時候，該隱動手打亞伯，把他殺了。後來，耶和華問該隱：「你弟弟亞伯在哪裡？」他說：「我不知道！難道我是弟弟的看護人嗎？」耶和華說：「你做了什麼事？你弟弟的血從地裡向我哭訴。地張開口從你手上接受了你弟弟的血，你在地上必受咒詛。你種地，地卻不會再為你長出任何東西，你必在地上四處漂泊。」該隱對耶和華說：「這懲罰太重！我承受不了。今天你把我趕出去，使我不能再見你的面。我在地上四處漂泊，見到我的人都會殺我。」耶和華對他說：「不會的，因為凡殺你的，必遭受七倍的報應。」於是，耶和華在該隱身上留下一個記號，免得見到他的人殺他。該隱離開耶和華，來到伊甸東邊的挪得住下來。
