你們知道，他後來想要承受父親對長子的祝福，卻遭到拒絕，雖然聲淚俱下，終無法使父親回心轉意。

所以，你們必自食其果，因自己的惡謀而吃盡苦頭。

我呼喚你們，你們卻充耳不聞；我向你們招手，你們卻視若無睹。你們漠視我的勸誡，不接受我的責備。因此，你們遭遇災難時，我必發笑；驚恐臨到你們時，我必嗤笑——那時，恐懼如風暴襲擊你們，災難如旋風臨到你們，憂愁和苦難吞沒你們。你們呼求我，我也不回答；你們懇切地尋找我，卻找不到。

「你們要努力進窄門，因為我告訴你們，將來有許多人想要進卻進不去。當主人起來把門關閉之後，你們才站在外面叩門哀求，說，『主啊，給我們開門吧！』主人必說，『我不認識你們，你們是從哪裡來的？』「那時，你們必說，『我們不是在一起用過餐嗎？你不是在街上教導過我們嗎？』「主人必說，『我告訴你們，我不認識你們，也不知道你們是從哪裡來的。你們這些作惡的人，走開！』「當你們看見亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各和眾先知在上帝的國，自己卻被丟在門外，必要在那裡哀哭切齒。

人因愚昧而自毀前程，他的心卻抱怨耶和華。

便放聲大哭，直哭得精疲力盡。
