Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of Jehovah of hosts will perform this.

that in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heavens, and as the sand which is upon the seashore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

And the children struggled together within her: and she said, If it be so, wherefore do I live? And she went to inquire of Jehovah.And Jehovah said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, And two peoples shall be separated from thy bowels: And the one people shall be stronger than the other people; And the elder shall serve the younger.

Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, marching in the greatness of his strength? For it came to pass, when David was in Edom, and Joab the captain of the host was gone up to bury the slain, and had smitten every male in Edom( for Joab and all Israel remained there six months, until he had cut off every male in Edom);

And after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them: and David took the bridle of the mother city out of the hand of the Philistines.And he smote Moab, and measured them with the line, making them to lie down on the ground; and he measured two lines to put to death, and one full line to keep alive. And the Moabites became servants to David, and brought tribute.David smote also Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his dominion at the River.And David took from him a thousand and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David hocked all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for a hundred chariots.And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succor Hadadezer king of Zobah, David smote of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought tribute. And Jehovah gave victory to David whithersoever he went.And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.And from Betah and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took exceeding much brass.And when Toi king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadadezer,then Toi sent Joram his son unto king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and smitten him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And Joram brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass:These also did king David dedicate unto Jehovah, with the silver and gold that he dedicated of all the nations which he subdued;of Syria, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.And David gat him a name when he returned from smiting the Syrians in the Valley of Salt, even eighteen thousand men.And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all the Edomites became servants to David. And Jehovah gave victory to David whithersoever he went.And David reigned over all Israel; and David executed justice and righteousness unto all his people.And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;and Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, were priests; and Seraiah was scribe;and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David’s sons were chief ministers.

How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? And how shall I defy, whom Jehovah hath not defied?

Thus saith Jehovah, the Redeemer of Israel, and his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers: Kings shall see and arise; princes, and they shall worship; because of Jehovah that is faithful, even the Holy One of Israel, who hath chosen thee.

And in the days of those kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed, nor shall the sovereignty thereof be left to another people; but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.Forasmuch as thou sawest that a stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.

And it came to pass after this, that the king of the children of Ammon died, and Hanun his son reigned in his stead.And David said, I will show kindness unto Hanun the son of Nahash, as his father showed kindness unto me. So David sent by his servants to comfort him concerning his father. And David’s servants came into the land of the children of Ammon.But the princes of the children of Ammon said unto Hanun their lord, Thinkest thou that David doth honor thy father, in that he hath sent comforters unto thee? hath not David sent his servants unto thee to search the city, and to spy it out, and to overthrow it?So Hanun took David’s servants, and shaved off the one half of their beards, and cut off their garments in the middle, even to their buttocks, and sent them away.When they told it unto David, he sent to meet them; for the men were greatly ashamed. And the king said, Tarry at Jericho until your beards be grown, and then return.And when the children of Ammon saw that they were become odious to David, the children of Ammon sent and hired the Syrians of Beth- rehob, and the Syrians of Zobah, twenty thousand footmen, and the king of Maacah with a thousand men, and the men of Tob twelve thousand men.And when David heard of it, he sent Joab, and all the host of the mighty men.And the children of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array at the entrance of the gate: and the Syrians of Zobah and of Rehob, and the men of Tob and Maacah, were by themselves in the field.Now when Joab saw that the battle was set against him before and behind, he chose of all the choice men of Israel, and put them in array against the Syrians:and the rest of the people he committed into the hand of Abishai his brother; and he put them in array against the children of Ammon.And he said, If the Syrians be too strong for me, then thou shalt help me; but if the children of Ammon be too strong for thee, then I will come and help thee.Be of good courage, and let us play the man for our people, and for the cities of our God: and Jehovah do that which seemeth him good.So Joab and the people that were with him drew nigh unto the battle against the Syrians: and they fled before him.And when the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians were fled, they likewise fled before Abishai, and entered into the city. Then Joab returned from the children of Ammon, and came to Jerusalem.And when the Syrians saw that they were put to the worse before Israel, they gathered themselves together.And Hadarezer sent, and brought out the Syrians that were beyond the River: and they came to Helam, with Shobach the captain of the host of Hadarezer at their head.And it was told David; and he gathered all Israel together, and passed over the Jordan, and came to Helam. And the Syrians set themselves in array against David, and fought with him.And the Syrians fled before Israel; and David slew of the Syrians the men of seven hundred chariots, and forty thousand horsemen, and smote Shobach the captain of their host, so that he died there.And when all the kings that were servants to Hadarezer saw that they were put to the worse before Israel, they made peace with Israel, and served them. So the Syrians feared to help the children of Ammon any more.

And Amaziah took courage, and led forth his people, and went to the Valley of Salt, and smote of the children of Seir ten thousand.And other ten thousand did the children of Judah carry away alive, and brought them unto the top of the rock, and cast them down from the top of the rock, so that they were all broken in pieces.But the men of the army whom Amaziah sent back, that they should not go with him to battle, fell upon the cities of Judah, from Samaria even unto Beth- horon, and smote of them three thousand, and took much spoil.Now it came to pass, after that Amaziah was come from the slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up to be his gods, and bowed down himself before them, and burned incense unto them.

for, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves came round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf.

Yet I have set my king Upon my holy hill of Zion.I will tell of the decree: Jehovah said unto me, Thou art my son; This day have I begotten thee.Ask of me, and I will give thee the nations for thine inheritance, And the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; Thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.

I have loved you, saith Jehovah. Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us? Was not Esau Jacob’s brother? saith Jehovah: yet I loved Jacob;but Esau I hated, and made his mountains a desolation, and gave his heritage to the jackals of the wilderness.Whereas Edom saith, We are beaten down, but we will return and build the waste places; thus saith Jehovah of hosts, They shall build, but I will throw down; and men shall call them The border of wickedness, and The people against whom Jehovah hath indignation for ever.And your eyes shall see, and ye shall say, Jehovah be magnified beyond the border of Israel.

He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, And from the River unto the ends of the earth.

Behold, the people that is come out of Egypt, it covereth the face of the earth: now, come curse me them; peradventure I shall be able to fight against them, and shall drive them out.And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them; thou shalt not curse the people; for they are blessed.

O God thou hast cast us off, thou hast broken us down; Thou hast been angry; oh restore us again.Thou hast made the land to tremble; thou hast rent it: Heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh.Thou hast showed thy people hard things: Thou hast made us to drink the wine of staggering.Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, That it may be displayed because of the truth.[ SelahThat thy beloved may be delivered, Save with thy right hand, and answer us.God hath spoken in his holiness: I will exult; I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the defence of my head; Judah is my sceptre.Moab is my washpot; Upon Edom will I cast my shoe: Philistia, shout thou because of me.Who will bring me into the strong city? Who hath led me unto Edom?Hast not thou, O God, cast us off? And thou goest not forth, O God, with our hosts.Give us help against the adversary; For vain is the help of man.Through God we shall do valiantly; For he it is that will tread down our adversaries.

And there was no king in Edom: a deputy was king.

Judah, thee shall thy brethren praise: Thy hand shall be on the neck of thine enemies; Thy father’s sons shall bow down before thee.Judah is a lion’s whelp; From the prey, my son, thou art gone up: He stooped down, he couched as a lion, And as a lioness; who shall rouse him up?The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, Nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, Until Shiloh come; And unto him shall the obedience of the peoples be.

For Judah prevailed above his brethren, and of him came the prince; but the birthright was Joseph’s),

And Solomon ruled over all the kingdoms from the River unto the land of the Philistines, and unto the border of Egypt: they brought tribute, and served Solomon all the days of his life.

I have heard the reproach of Moab, and the revilings of the children of Ammon, wherewith they have reproached my people, and magnified themselves against their border.Therefore as I live, saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, a possession of nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetual desolation: the residue of my people shall make a prey of them, and the remnant of my nation shall inherit them.

And he hath on his garment and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it unto one of these my brethren, even these least, ye did it unto me.

Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not unto one of these least, ye did it not unto me.
