Isaac said,“ Since I am so old, I could die at any time.

Isaac said,“ I am now an old man and don’t know the day of my death.

Isaac said,“ I’m an old man now. And I don’t know when I’ll die.

He said,“ Behold, I am old; I do not know the day of my death.

“ I am an old man now,” Isaac said,“ and I don’t know when I may die.

He said,“ Look, I am old and do not know the day of my death.

And he said, Behold now, I am old, I know not the day of my death.

He said,“ See now, I am old. I don’t know the day of my death.

Do not boast about tomorrow; for you do not know what a day may bring forth.

“ Please, LORD. Remember how I have served you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion, and how I have carried out your will.” Then Hezekiah wept bitterly.

The time for Israel to die approached, so he called for his son Joseph and said to him,“ If now I have found favor in your sight, put your hand under my thigh and show me kindness and faithfulness. Do not bury me in Egypt,

Stay alert, then, because you do not know when the owner of the house will return– whether during evening, at midnight, when the rooster crows, or at dawn–

Taking an oath, David again said,“ Your father is very much aware of the fact that I have found favor with you, and he has thought,‘ Don’t let Jonathan know about this, or he will be upset.’ But as surely as the LORD lives and you live, there is about one step between me and death!”

Then Israel said to Joseph,“ I am about to die, but God will be with you and will bring you back to the land of your fathers.

You do not know about tomorrow. What is your life like? For you are a puff of smoke that appears for a short time and then vanishes.

In those days Hezekiah was stricken with a terminal illness. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz visited him and told him,“ This is what the LORD says,‘ Give instructions to your household, for you are about to die; you will not get well.’”

Whatever you find to do with your hands, do it with all your might, because there is neither work nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom in the grave, the place where you will eventually go.
