以撒年紀老邁，歲數滿足，氣絕而死，被收殮歸他先族人；他的兒子以掃雅各把他埋葬了。

兒子們把他運到迦南地，將他埋葬在麥比拉田地間的洞裏；那洞和田地是亞伯拉罕向赫人以弗崙買來做產業為墳地的；是在幔利東面。

他又囑咐他們說：『我將要被收殮歸我先族人了；你們要將我埋葬在赫人以弗崙田地間的洞裏，和我祖我父在一處，就是在迦南地、幔利東面、麥比拉田地間的洞。那洞和田地是亞伯拉罕向赫人以弗崙買來做產業為墳地的。

撒拉看見埃及人夏甲給亞伯拉罕所生的兒子在嬉戲，就對亞伯拉罕說：『把這使女和她兒子趕出去吧；因為這使女的兒子萬不能和我兒子以撒一同繼承產業。

把他所有的、他田頭上那麥比拉的洞給我，他好按足額的價銀賣給我，使我在你們中間有產業為墳地。』那時以弗崙正坐在赫人中間，赫人以弗崙就在赫人所有出入城門的人聽得到的地方回答亞伯拉罕說：『不，我主請聽我！那田地我給你，其中的洞我也給你，在我族人眼前給了你，讓你可以埋葬你死了的親人。』亞伯拉罕就在當地的人面前下拜；就在當地人民聽得到的地方對以弗崙說：『只要你肯的話，請聽我；我給了銀兩買田地；請收下，我就在那裏埋葬我死了的親人。』以弗崙回答亞伯拉罕說：『我主請聽我；值四百舍客勒銀子的一塊田地，在你我之間、還算得了甚麼？你只管埋葬你死了的親人吧。』亞伯拉罕聽從了以弗崙；就平了銀子給以弗崙，就是他在赫人聽得到的地方所說的，平商人通用的銀子四百舍客勒。於是以弗崙的田地、那在麥比拉在幔利東面的、那塊田地和其中的洞、以及田地中間跟四圍界限所有的一切樹木，都定準歸於亞伯拉罕做產業，是他在赫人和出入城門的人眼前買妥了的。這事以後，亞伯拉罕就把他妻子撒拉埋葬在迦南地幔利東面麥比拉田間的洞裏：幔利就是希伯崙。從此那塊田地和其中的洞、就定準赫人轉歸亞伯拉罕做產業為墳地。
