亚伯拉罕清早起来，拿饼和一皮袋水，给了夏甲，搭在她的肩上，又把孩子交给她，打发她走。夏甲就走了，在别是巴的旷野走迷了路。

以色列人每逢撒种之后，米甸人、亚玛力人，和东方人都上来攻打他们，

你们中间作父亲的，谁有儿子求饼，反给他石头呢？求鱼，反拿蛇当鱼给他呢？求鸡蛋，反给他蝎子呢？你们虽然不好，尚且知道拿好东西给儿女；何况天父，岂不更将圣灵给求他的人吗？”

当以色列中没有王的时候，有住以法莲山地那边的一个利未人，娶了一个犹大伯利恒的女子为妾。妾行淫离开丈夫，回犹大的伯利恒，到了父家，在那里住了四个月。

那人的岳父，就是女子的父亲，将那人留下住了三天。于是二人一同吃喝、住宿。

拉结就把她的使女辟拉给丈夫为妾；雅各便与她同房，

他的家产有七千羊，三千骆驼，五百对牛，五百母驴，并有许多仆婢。这人在东方人中就为至大。

他夜间起来，带着两个妻子，两个使女，并十一个儿子，都过了雅博渡口，

这样就可以作你们天父的儿子；因为他叫日头照好人，也照歹人；降雨给义人，也给不义的人。

然而为自己未尝不显出证据来，就如常施恩惠，从天降雨，赏赐丰年，叫你们饮食饱足，满心喜乐。”

耶和华啊，求你用手救我脱离世人，脱离那只在今生有福分的世人！你把你的财宝充满他们的肚腹；他们因有儿女就心满意足，将其余的财物留给他们的婴孩。至于我，我必在义中见你的面；我醒了的时候，得见你的形像就心满意足了。

于是亚伯兰的妻子撒莱将使女埃及人夏甲给了丈夫为妾；那时亚伯兰在迦南已经住了十年。

亚伯拉罕又娶了一妻，名叫基土拉。

以色列住在那地的时候，流便去与他父亲的妾辟拉同寝，以色列也听见了。雅各共有十二个儿子。

乌斯地有一个人名叫约伯；那人完全正直，敬畏神，远离恶事。

利亚见自己停了生育，就把使女悉帕给雅各为妾。
