你們當中有哪個做父親的，兒子要魚，反而拿蛇當做魚給他呢？兒子要雞蛋，卻給他蠍子呢？所以，如果你們做為惡人也知道把好的東西給自己的兒女，更何況天上的父要賜聖靈給求他的人呢！」

於是拉結把她的婢女碧荷給雅各作妾，雅各就與她同房。

他夜間起來，帶著他的兩個妻子、兩個婢女和十一個孩子，過了雅博淺灘。

好讓你們成為你們天父的兒女。因為他使太陽升起，對著惡人，也對著好人；降雨給義人，也給不義的人。

其實神並不是沒有為自己留下證據，因為他常行美善：從天上賜給你們雨水和豐收的季節，使你們食物充足，滿心喜樂。」

耶和華啊，求你用手使我脫離世人——他們只在今生有份：你用你所儲藏的填滿他們的肚腹；他們也因有兒女而滿足，還把剩餘的留給他們的幼兒。至於我，我要在公義中仰望你的臉；當我醒來時，就因你的形像而滿足。

亞伯蘭在迦南地居住十年之後，亞伯蘭的妻子撒萊把自己的婢女埃及人夏甲帶來給丈夫亞伯蘭作妾。

亞伯拉罕又娶了一個妻子，名叫基土拉。

以色列在那地居住的時候，魯本去與他父親的小妾碧荷同睡；以色列也聽到了這事。雅各有十二個兒子：

莉亞見自己停止了生育，就把自己的婢女悉帕帶來給雅各作妾。
