第二天，亚伯拉罕清早起来，把食物和一皮袋水放在夏甲肩上，让她和孩子离开。夏甲在别示巴的旷野流浪。

每当他们撒种的时候，米甸人、亚玛力人及东方人就前来进犯，

“你们中间做父亲的，如果孩子要饼，你会给他石头吗？要鱼，你会给他蛇吗？要鸡蛋，你会给他蝎子吗？你们虽然邪恶，尚且知道把好东西给儿女，天父岂不更要赐圣灵给那些求祂的人吗？”

那时候，以色列没有王。有一个利未人住在以法莲山区的偏远地带，他娶了犹大伯利恒的一个女子为妾。那女子不忠，离开丈夫回到犹大伯利恒的父亲家，住了四个月。

留他在家里小住。他便在那里住了三天，一起吃住。

于是拉结把婢女辟拉给丈夫做妾，雅各和辟拉同房。

七千只羊、三千只骆驼、五百对牛、五百头母驴及许多仆婢。他在东方人中最富有。

那天晚上，雅各起来带着两个妻子、两个婢女和十一个儿子渡过雅博渡口。

这样，你们才是天父的孩子。因为祂让阳光照好人也照坏人，降雨给义人也给恶人。

却从未停止用美善的事证实自己的存在。祂常施恩惠，降下甘霖，赏赐丰年，又叫你们衣食饱足，满心喜乐。”

耶和华啊，求你伸手救我脱离这些人，脱离这些只在今生有福分的世人。你使他们财宝无数。他们儿女众多，还把财富留给子孙。但我因持守公义必见你的面；我醒来见到你就心满意足了。

于是，撒莱把埃及婢女夏甲给亚伯兰做妾。那时亚伯兰已经在迦南住了十年。

亚伯拉罕又娶了基土拉。

以色列在那里居住时，吕便和父亲的妾辟拉通奸，以色列也知道这件事。雅各有十二个儿子。

乌斯有一个人名叫约伯，他纯全正直，敬畏上帝，远离罪恶。

利亚见自己不再生育，就把婢女悉帕给雅各做妾。
