於是轉過身來向着那女人，對西門說：『你看見這女人麼？我進了你的家，你沒有給我水洗腳；她呢、卻用眼淚濕了我的腳，又用她的頭髮來擦乾。

在好行為上有聲譽的。這就是說，她若養育過兒女，若接待過旅客，若洗過聖徒的腳，若濟助過遭患難的人，若在各樣善行上緊密追求過。

就從席間站起來，脫了外衣，拿手巾束腰；然後倒水在盆裏，洗起門徒的腳來，又用束腰的手巾來擦乾。這樣、就到了西門彼得那裏了；彼得對耶穌說：『主啊，你洗我的腳麼？』耶穌回答他說：『我所作的、你現在不曉得，此後自會明白。』彼得對耶穌說：『你決不可洗我的腳，永遠不可！』耶穌回答他說：『我若不洗你，你就不是和我一同有分了。』西門彼得對耶穌說：『那麼主啊、不單我的腳，還有手和頭呢！』耶穌對他說：『洗了澡的人、除了腳以外是無需乎再洗的；他乃是完全潔淨了；你們是潔淨，然而不都是。』他原知道那要把他送官的是誰，故此他說：『你們不都是潔淨。』洗完了他們的腳，耶穌就穿上外衣，再坐席，對他們說：『我向你們作的、你們明白麼？你們稱呼我：「老師啊，主啊！」你們說的不錯；我本來是。那麼我做主做老師的尚且洗你們的腳，你們呢、也應該彼此洗腳啊。

亞比該就起來，面伏於地而下拜，說：『看哪，使女願做婢女、洗我主僕人的腳。』
