接著帶他們進約瑟的家，給他們水洗腳，給他們的驢餵草料。

我讓人拿點水來，你們洗洗腳，在樹下歇一會兒。

「我主啊，請到僕人家洗洗腳，住一夜，明天早上再繼續趕路吧！」他們說：「不，我們要在街上過夜。」

耶穌說：「你判斷得對！」隨後轉向那女人，繼續對西門說：「你看見這女人了嗎？我到你家裡來，你沒有拿水給我洗腳，這女人卻用她的眼淚洗我的腳，還親自用頭髮擦乾。

並且在善事上有好名聲，如教養兒女、接待外人、服侍聖徒、救助困苦、竭力做各種善事。

就離席站起來，脫了外衣，把毛巾束在腰間，然後倒了一盆水為門徒洗腳，用束在腰間的毛巾擦乾。輪到西門·彼得的時候，他說：「主啊！你要洗我的腳嗎？」耶穌回答說：「我這樣做，你現在雖然不明白，將來一定會明白。」彼得說：「你絕對不可以洗我的腳。」耶穌說：「如果我不洗你的腳，你就和我沒有關係了。」西門·彼得說：「主啊，不只我的腳，連我的手和頭也幫我洗吧。」耶穌說：「洗過澡的人全身是乾淨的，只要洗洗腳就好了。你們是乾淨的，但不是每一個都乾淨。」因為耶穌知道誰要出賣祂，所以說：「你們不是每一個都乾淨。」耶穌給門徒洗完了腳，便穿上外衣再次坐下來，然後問道：「我為你們做的，你們明白嗎？你們稱呼我『老師』，也稱呼我『主』，你們稱呼得對，因為我是。我是你們的老師又是你們的主，尚且給你們洗腳，你們更應當彼此洗腳。

亞比該聽了，立刻俯伏在地上說：「婢女願意效勞，為我主的僕人洗腳。」
