This is my request. I will ask one of them,‘ Please give me a drink from your jug.’ If she says,‘ Yes, have a drink, and I will water your camels, too!’— let her be the one you have selected as Isaac’s wife. This is how I will know that you have shown unfailing love to my master.”

如果我对哪个少女说‘请放下你的水罐，让我喝点水’，如果她说‘请喝，我也打水给你的骆驼喝’，愿那女子做你为自己的仆人以撒选定的妻子。这样，我可以知道你施恩给我的主人了。”

我对哪一个少女说：‘请你放下水瓶来，让我喝点水。’如果她回答：‘请喝，我也给你的骆驼喝。’愿那少女就作你选定给你仆人以撒的妻子。这样，我就知道你施慈爱给我的主人了。”

我对哪个少女说：‘请放下你的罐子，让我喝点水’；如果那个少女说：‘请喝吧，我也给你的骆驼喝’——愿她就是你为你的仆人以撒指定的那位。这样我就知道你确实向我主人施慈爱了。”

倘其中有一女、我告之、授汲器以飲我、彼云、請飲、亦飲爾駝、則其女為爾所定、與爾僕以撒為室、由此可知、爾施恩於我主。

我將求一女曰、請欹瓶予我飲、彼若云請飲、我亦飲爾駝、則其女為主所定、與主之僕以撒為妻、由此我可知主施恩於我主人、

May it be that when I say to a young woman,‘ Please let down your jar that I may have a drink,’ and she says,‘ Drink, and I’ll water your camels too’— let her be the one you have chosen for your servant Isaac. By this I will know that you have shown kindness to my master.”

I will speak to a young woman. I’ll say to her,‘ Please lower your jar so I can have a drink.’ Suppose she says,‘ Have a drink of water, and I’ll get some for your camels too.’ Then let her be the one you have chosen for your servant Isaac. That’s how I’ll know you have been kind to my master.”

Let the young woman to whom I shall say,‘ Please let down your jar that I may drink,’ and who shall say,‘ Drink, and I will water your camels’— let her be the one whom you have appointed for your servant Isaac. By this I shall know that you have shown steadfast love to my master.”

Let the girl to whom I say,‘ Please lower your water jug so that I may drink,’ and who responds,‘ Drink, and I’ll water your camels also’— let her be the one you have appointed for your servant Isaac. By this I will know that you have shown kindness to my master.”

prove it to me in this way. I will put a wool fleece on the threshing floor tonight. If the fleece is wet with dew in the morning but the ground is dry, then I will know that you are going to help me rescue Israel as you promised.”

Gideon replied,“ If you are truly going to help me, show me a sign to prove that it is really the Lord speaking to me.

But Abram replied,“ O Sovereign Lord, how can I be sure that I will actually possess it?”

“ Ask the Lord your God for a sign of confirmation, Ahaz. Make it as difficult as you want— as high as heaven or as deep as the place of the dead.”

But Moses protested again,“ What if they won’t believe me or listen to me? What if they say,‘ The Lord never appeared to you’?”Then the Lord asked him,“ What is that in your hand?”“ A shepherd’s staff,” Moses replied.“ Throw it down on the ground,” the Lord told him. So Moses threw down the staff, and it turned into a snake! Moses jumped back.Then the Lord told him,“ Reach out and grab its tail.” So Moses reached out and grabbed it, and it turned back into a shepherd’s staff in his hand.“ Perform this sign,” the Lord told him.“ Then they will believe that the Lord, the God of their ancestors— the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob— really has appeared to you.”Then the Lord said to Moses,“ Now put your hand inside your cloak.” So Moses put his hand inside his cloak, and when he took it out again, his hand was white as snow with a severe skin disease.“ Now put your hand back into your cloak,” the Lord said. So Moses put his hand back in, and when he took it out again, it was as healthy as the rest of his body.The Lord said to Moses,“ If they do not believe you and are not convinced by the first miraculous sign, they will be convinced by the second sign.And if they don’t believe you or listen to you even after these two signs, then take some water from the Nile River and pour it out on the dry ground. When you do, the water from the Nile will turn to blood on the ground.”

If she says,“ Yes, have a drink, and I will draw water for your camels, too,” let her be the one you have selected to be the wife of my master’s son.’

Meanwhile, Hezekiah had said to Isaiah,“ What sign will the Lord give to prove that he will heal me and that I will go to the Temple of the Lord three days from now?”Isaiah replied,“ This is the sign from the Lord to prove that he will do as he promised. Would you like the shadow on the sundial to go forward ten steps or backward ten steps?”“ The shadow always moves forward,” Hezekiah replied,“ so that would be easy. Make it go ten steps backward instead.”So Isaiah the prophet asked the Lord to do this, and he caused the shadow to move ten steps backward on the sundial of Ahaz!

“ All right, then,” Jonathan told him.“ We will cross over and let them see us.If they say to us,‘ Stay where you are or we’ll kill you,’ then we will stop and not go up to them.But if they say,‘ Come on up and fight,’ then we will go up. That will be the Lord’s sign that he will help us defeat them.”

If he says,‘ Fine!’ you will know all is well. But if he is angry and loses his temper, you will know he is determined to kill me.

One of the things I always pray for is the opportunity, God willing, to come at last to see you.

When you hear a sound like marching feet in the tops of the poplar trees, be on the alert! That will be the signal that the Lord is moving ahead of you to strike down the Philistine army.”

One will be bringing three young goats, another will have three loaves of bread, and the third will be carrying a wineskin full of wine.They will greet you and offer you two of the loaves, which you are to accept.“ When you arrive at Gibeah of God, where the garrison of the Philistines is located, you will meet a band of prophets coming down from the place of worship. They will be playing a harp, a tambourine, a flute, and a lyre, and they will be prophesying.At that time the Spirit of the Lord will come powerfully upon you, and you will prophesy with them. You will be changed into a different person.After these signs take place, do what must be done, for God is with you.Then go down to Gilgal ahead of me. I will join you there to sacrifice burnt offerings and peace offerings. You must wait for seven days until I arrive and give you further instructions.”As Saul turned and started to leave, God gave him a new heart, and all Samuel’s signs were fulfilled that day.When Saul and his servant arrived at Gibeah, they saw a group of prophets coming toward them. Then the Spirit of God came powerfully upon Saul, and he, too, began to prophesy.

Gideon crept up just as a man was telling his companion about a dream. The man said,“ I had this dream, and in my dream a loaf of barley bread came tumbling down into the Midianite camp. It hit a tent, turned it over, and knocked it flat!”His companion answered,“ Your dream can mean only one thing— God has given Gideon son of Joash, the Israelite, victory over Midian and all its allies!”When Gideon heard the dream and its interpretation, he bowed in worship before the Lord. Then he returned to the Israelite camp and shouted,“ Get up! For the Lord has given you victory over the Midianite hordes!”

“ How are you, my cousin?” Joab said and took him by the beard with his right hand as though to kiss him.

Then they said,“ Ask God whether or not our journey will be successful.”

“ Now build a new cart, and find two cows that have just given birth to calves. Make sure the cows have never been yoked to a cart. Hitch the cows to the cart, but shut their calves away from them in a pen.Put the Ark of the Lord on the cart, and beside it place a chest containing the gold rats and gold tumors you are sending as a guilt offering. Then let the cows go wherever they want.If they cross the border of our land and go to Beth shemesh, we will know it was the Lord who brought this great disaster upon us. If they don’t, we will know it was not his hand that caused the plague. It came simply by chance.”
