倘其中有一女、我告之、授汲器以飲我、彼云、請飲、亦飲爾駝、則其女為爾所定、與爾僕以撒為室、由此可知、爾施恩於我主。

我將求一女曰、請欹瓶予我飲、彼若云請飲、我亦飲爾駝、則其女為主所定、與主之僕以撒為妻、由此我可知主施恩於我主人、

May it be that when I say to a young woman,‘ Please let down your jar that I may have a drink,’ and she says,‘ Drink, and I’ll water your camels too’— let her be the one you have chosen for your servant Isaac. By this I will know that you have shown kindness to my master.”

I will speak to a young woman. I’ll say to her,‘ Please lower your jar so I can have a drink.’ Suppose she says,‘ Have a drink of water, and I’ll get some for your camels too.’ Then let her be the one you have chosen for your servant Isaac. That’s how I’ll know you have been kind to my master.”

Let the young woman to whom I shall say,‘ Please let down your jar that I may drink,’ and who shall say,‘ Drink, and I will water your camels’— let her be the one whom you have appointed for your servant Isaac. By this I shall know that you have shown steadfast love to my master.”

This is my request. I will ask one of them,‘ Please give me a drink from your jug.’ If she says,‘ Yes, have a drink, and I will water your camels, too!’— let her be the one you have selected as Isaac’s wife. This is how I will know that you have shown unfailing love to my master.”

I will put a wool fleece here on the threshing floor. If dew is only on the fleece, and all the ground is dry, I will know that you will deliver Israel by me, as you said.”

Then he said to him,“ If I have found favor with you, give me a sign that you are speaking with me.

But he said,“ Lord GOD, how can I know that I will possess it?”

“ Ask for a sign from the LORD your God— it can be as deep as Sheol or as high as heaven.”

Moses answered,“ What if they won’t believe me and will not obey me but say,‘ The LORD did not appear to you’?”The LORD asked him,“ What is that in your hand?”“ A staff,” he replied.“ Throw it on the ground,” he said. So he put his hand back inside his cloak, and when he took it out, it had again become like the rest of his skin.“ If they will not believe you and will not respond to the evidence of the first sign, they may believe the evidence of the second sign.And if they don’t believe even these two signs or listen to what you say, take some water from the Nile and pour it on the dry ground. The water you take from the Nile will become blood on the ground.”

and who responds to me,‘ Drink, and I’ll draw water for your camels also’— let her be the woman the LORD has appointed for my master’s son.

Hezekiah had asked Isaiah,“ What is the sign that the LORD will heal me and that I will go up to the LORD’s temple on the third day?”Isaiah said,“ This is the sign to you from the LORD that he will do what he has promised: Should the shadow go ahead ten steps or go back ten steps?”Then Hezekiah answered,“ It’s easy for the shadow to lengthen ten steps. No, let the shadow go back ten steps.”So the prophet Isaiah called out to the LORD, and he brought the shadow back the ten steps it had descended on the stairway of Ahaz.

“ All right,” Jonathan replied,“ we’ll cross over to the men and then let them see us.If they say,‘ Wait until we reach you,’ then we will stay where we are and not go up to them.But if they say,‘ Come on up,’ then we’ll go up, because the LORD has handed them over to us— that will be our sign.”

If he says,‘ Good,’ then your servant is safe, but if he becomes angry, you will know he has evil intentions.

They will be preceded by harps, tambourines, flutes, and lyres.The Spirit of the LORD will come powerfully on you, you will prophesy with them, and you will be transformed.When these signs have happened to you, do whatever your circumstances require because God is with you.Afterward, go ahead of me to Gilgal. I will come to you to offer burnt offerings and to sacrifice fellowship offerings. Wait seven days until I come to you and show you what to do.”When Saul turned to leave Samuel, God changed his heart, and all the signs came about that day.When Saul and his servant arrived at Gibeah, a group of prophets met him. Then the Spirit of God came powerfully on him, and he prophesied along with them.

When Gideon arrived, there was a man telling his friend about a dream. He said,“ Listen, I had a dream: a loaf of barley bread came tumbling into the Midianite camp, struck a tent, and it fell. The loaf turned the tent upside down so that it collapsed.”His friend answered,“ This is nothing less than the sword of Gideon son of Joash, the Israelite. God has handed the entire Midianite camp over to him.”When Gideon heard the account of the dream and its interpretation, he bowed in worship. He returned to Israel’s camp and said,“ Get up, for the LORD has handed the Midianite camp over to you.”

Joab asked Amasa,“ Are you well, my brother?” Then with his right hand Joab grabbed Amasa by the beard to kiss him.

Then they said to him,“ Please inquire of God for us to determine if we will have a successful journey.”

“ Now then, prepare one new cart and two milk cows that have never been yoked. Hitch the cows to the cart, but take their calves away and pen them up.Take the ark of the LORD, place it on the cart, and put the gold objects that you’re sending him as a guilt offering in a box beside the ark. Send it off and let it go its way.Then watch: If it goes up the road to its homeland toward Beth-shemesh, it is the LORD who has made this terrible trouble for us. However, if it doesn’t, we will know that it was not his hand that punished us— it was just something that happened to us by chance.”
