So Ephron’s field in Machpelah near Mamre— both the field and the cave in it, and all the trees within the borders of the field— was deeded

如是、以弗崙之田、在麥比拉、與幔利相對者、田與穴、暨四周之林木、

如是以弗崙田在麥比拉、與慢哩相對、田之穴、暨田中四圍群樹、

於是以弗崙田在麥比拉、在幔利前者、田與田間之穴、及田中四圍之樹、俱定與亞伯拉罕為業、

So Ephron sold his field to Abraham. The field was in Machpelah near Mamre. Abraham bought the field and the cave that was in it. He also bought all the trees that were inside the borders of the field. Everything was sold

So the field of Ephron in Machpelah, which was to the east of Mamre, the field with the cave that was in it and all the trees that were in the field, throughout its whole area, was made over

So Abraham bought the plot of land belonging to Ephron at Machpelah, near Mamre. This included the field itself, the cave that was in it, and all the surrounding trees.

So Ephron’s field at Machpelah near Mamre— the field with its cave and all the trees anywhere within the boundaries of the field— became

So Ephron’s field, which was in Machpelah, which faced Mamre, the field and the cave which was in it, and all the trees which were in the field, that were within all the confines of its border, were deeded over

So the field of Ephron which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field and the cave which was in it, and all the trees that were in the field, which were within all the surrounding borders, were deeded

So the field of Ephron, which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field, and the cave which was therein, and all the trees that were in the field, that were in all the border thereof round about, were made sure

So Ephron’s field at Machpelah near Mamre— the field with its cave and all the trees anywhere within the boundaries of the field— became

And the field of Ephron, which[ was] in Machpelah, which[ was] before Mamre, the field, and the cave which[ was] therein, and all the trees that[ were] in the field, that[ were] in all the borders round about, were made sure

So Abraham secured Ephron’s field in Machpelah, next to Mamre, including the field, the cave that was in it, and all the trees that were in the field and all around its border,

So the field of Ephron, which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field, the cave which was in it, and all the trees that were in the field, that were in all of its borders, were deeded

They carried him to the land of Canaan and buried him in the cave in the field of Machpelah, near Mamre, which Abraham had bought along with the field as a burial place from Ephron the Hittite.

His sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah near Mamre, in the field of Ephron son of Zohar the Hittite,

So the field and the cave in it were deeded to Abraham by the Hittites as a burial site.

Their bodies were brought back to Shechem and placed in the tomb that Abraham had bought from the sons of Hamor at Shechem for a certain sum of money.

Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely, who conduct their affairs with justice.

( Now in earlier times in Israel, for the redemption and transfer of property to become final, one party took off his sandal and gave it to the other. This was the method of legalizing transactions in Israel.)So the guardian-redeemer said to Boaz,“ Buy it yourself.” And he removed his sandal.Then Boaz announced to the elders and all the people,“ Today you are witnesses that I have bought from Naomi all the property of Elimelek, Kilion and Mahlon.I have also acquired Ruth the Moabite, Mahlon’s widow, as my wife, in order to maintain the name of the dead with his property, so that his name will not disappear from among his family or from his hometown. Today you are witnesses!”

Hanamel son of Shallum your uncle is going to come to you and say,‘ Buy my field at Anathoth, because as nearest relative it is your right and duty to buy it.’“ Then, just as the Lord had said, my cousin Hanamel came to me in the courtyard of the guard and said,‘ Buy my field at Anathoth in the territory of Benjamin. Since it is your right to redeem it and possess it, buy it for yourself.’“ I knew that this was the word of the Lord;so I bought the field at Anathoth from my cousin Hanamel and weighed out for him seventeen shekels of silver.I signed and sealed the deed, had it witnessed, and weighed out the silver on the scales.I took the deed of purchase— the sealed copy containing the terms and conditions, as well as the unsealed copy—and I gave this deed to Baruch son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, in the presence of my cousin Hanamel and of the witnesses who had signed the deed and of all the Jews sitting in the courtyard of the guard.“ In their presence I gave Baruch these instructions:‘ This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Take these documents, both the sealed and unsealed copies of the deed of purchase, and put them in a clay jar so they will last a long time.

Then he gave them these instructions:“ I am about to be gathered to my people. Bury me with my fathers in the cave in the field of Ephron the Hittite,the cave in the field of Machpelah, near Mamre in Canaan, which Abraham bought along with the field as a burial place from Ephron the Hittite.There Abraham and his wife Sarah were buried, there Isaac and his wife Rebekah were buried, and there I buried Leah.The field and the cave in it were bought from the Hittites.”

“ I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves.

Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.

Be very careful, then, how you live— not as unwise but as wise,
