Ephron was sitting there among the others, and he answered Abraham as the others listened, speaking publicly before all the Hittite elders of the town.

以弗崙赫人也、於邑民及入是邑者前、對亞伯拉罕曰、

時、以弗崙坐於赫族人中、赫族人以弗崙遂於入邑門之赫族人前、謂亞伯拉罕曰、

Ephron the Hittite was sitting among his people and he replied to Abraham in the hearing of all the Hittites who had come to the gate of his city.

Ephron was sitting among the Hittites. So in the presence of all the Hittites who came to the gate of his city, Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham:

( Now Ephron was sitting among the sons of Heth.) Ephron the Hethite replied to Abraham in the hearing of the sons of Heth– before all who entered the gate of his city–

Now Ephron was sitting in the middle of the children of Heth. Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the hearing of the children of Heth, even of all who went in at the gate of his city, saying,

So all the men in the town council agreed with Hamor and Shechem, and every male in the town was circumcised.

and he went with his father, Hamor, to present this proposal to the leaders at the town gate.

It was transferred to Abraham as his permanent possession in the presence of the Hittite elders at the city gate.

Jesus climbed into a boat and went back across the lake to his own town.

Boaz went to the town gate and took a seat there. Just then the family redeemer he had mentioned came by, so Boaz called out to him,“ Come over here and sit down, friend. I want to talk to you.” So they sat down together.Then Boaz called ten leaders from the town and asked them to sit as witnesses.And Boaz said to the family redeemer,“ You know Naomi, who came back from Moab. She is selling the land that belonged to our relative Elimelech.I thought I should speak to you about it so that you can redeem it if you wish. He will give a longing for justice to their judges. He will give great courage to their warriors who stand at the gates.

“ Those were the days when I went to the city gate and took my place among the honored leaders.

Then he loaded ten of Abraham’s camels with all kinds of expensive gifts from his master, and he traveled to distant Aram naharaim. There he went to the town where Abraham’s brother Nahor had settled.

All returned to their own ancestral towns to register for this census.And because Joseph was a descendant of King David, he had to go to Bethlehem in Judea, David’s ancient home. He traveled there from the village of Nazareth in Galilee.
